Remembering Mahendra Kapoor today, 9th Jan, his birth anniversary.
As I am searching for songs to post for today, I came across this simply super gem of a melody which I have heard long time back, and which has since been eluding me. For example, people would talk about Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s Anand or Bawarchi or Shakti Samanta’s Aradhana. For me these were movies of Rajesh Khanna first and foremost. Yet they would invariably be attached to the director, as if he owned the movie.

After watching so many “teasing” songs, I find non- teasing songs such a sight for sore eyes. These are songs where the boy is treating the girl in a dignified manner and the girl is not minding his advances. Here is one such delighfully picturised romantic song from “Ghoonghat” (1960).
