“Jee Chaahta Hai” (1964) is a movie starring Joy Mukherji, Rashree, Shyama, Rajendranath, Nazir Hussain,Jeewan etc. I have not seen the movie so I often try to guess the story of the movie from the picturisation of the song, and my conclusions thus drawn about the movie are often quite off the mark.

A wonderful “searching-for-a-lost-one” song. The movie is Chaalis Din (1959) with a reasonably good set of actors, i.e. Premnath, Shakeela, Nishi, KN Singh, Maruti, Shammi, Chaman Puri, Kuckoo etc. This particular song is picturized on Shakeela as the main singer on screen, supported by Shammi and Maruti. Maruti looks very different and somber, unlike his comical sidekick roles that he has played in many movies of Dara Singh, Sheikh Mukhtar etc.

Do bechaare binaa sahaare

In the early 1970s, when I was growing as a pre teen kid, I used to listen to Hindi movie songs and I longed to watch the movies containg these songs. The movies that I wold have dearly loved to see those days, since I loved their songs, were “Seeta Aur Geeta” (1972) and “Victoria No. 203″ (1972). But unfortunately I could never see these two movies at that time. That remains a big regret of my life to this day.
