“Namaste” (1943) was directed by M Sadiq and S U Sunny. This movie had R Wasti, Protima Dasgupta, Jagdish Sethi, Nayampalli, Mishra, Rajkumari Shukla, But Kashmiri, Ghulam Rasool, Alluddin, Amir Ali, Jetha N Lakhani etc in it.

One song from this movie has been discussed in the past.

Here is the second song from the movie. This song is sung by G M Durrani. D N Madhok is the lyricist. Music is composed by Naushad.

Only the audio of this song is available. seeing that G M Durrani was the main (and only) male playback singer in the movie, he clearly gave playback for the mail lead actor, who could be Wasti. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on the movie as well as on the picturisation of this song.

Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Nitin Shah.

Song-Mere dil mein saikdon armaan (Namaste)(1943) Singer-G M Durrani, Lyrics-D N Madhok, MD-Naushad

Lyrics (Provided by Nitin Shah)

mere dil mein saikdon armaan
wo kya jaanen
haan armaan wo kya jaanen
baat na maanen
raat chaandni
wo bhi saath mein
haath haath mein haath
dil darta darta jaa
mere dil mein saikdon armaan
wo kya jaanen
haan armaan wo kya jaanen
baat na maanen
raat chaandni
wo bhi saath mein
haath haath mein haan
dil darta darta jaa

dekhe jo chaand sharmaaye
baadal mein jaake chhip jaaye
phir aankh aankh mein
main unse kuchh keh doon
phir aankh aankh mein
main unse kuchh keh doon
??
?? modd ke haan
dil darta darta jaa
mere dil mein saikdo armaan
wo kya jaanen
haan armaan wo kya jaanen
baat na maanen
raat chaandni
wo bhi saath mein
haath haath mein haan
dil darta darta jaa

ghir ghir ghataayen phir aayen
wo kehen ke lo bhar jaayen
main kahoon aaj dil dil ke badle loonga
main kahoon aaj dil dil ke badle loonga
?? naazuk jiyara unka tadpe haan
dil darta darta ja
mere dil mein saikdon armaan
wo kya jaanen
haan armaan wo kya jaanen
baat na maanen
raat chaandni
wo bhi saath mein
haath haath mein haa
dil darta darta jaa

“Naatak” (1947) was directed by S U Sunny for Kardar Productions. The movie had Suraiyya, Amar, Sofia, Kanwar, shaam Kumar, Pratima Devi, Nazeer Bedi, Ameer Ali, Suleman, Murtaza, Nazeer Ahmad, Nawab etc in it.

The movie had ten songs in it. As many as eight songs fro this movie have been discussed in the past.

Here is the ninth song from “Naatak” (1947). This song is sung by Amar. Khumar Barabankwi is the lyricist. Music is composed by Naushad.

Only the audio of this song is available, but it is clear that the song was picturised on Amar himself.

With this song, now only one song remains to be covered. That one song is the elusive Suraiyya song “Taaron bhari raat sajan taaron bhari raat”. So we will have to wait for that song to surface before we can cover all the songs of this movie in the blog.

chaand ko chheden chanchal taaren
ithhlaaye ujiyaali ee ee

ithhlaaye ujiyaali
haan aan aan
kis ko chhedoon tere bina main
mera pehloo khaali

dil ka sauda dil se kar le
kuchh kho le kuchh paa le
haan aan aan

dekh jawaani beeti jaaye
aaja tujh bin chain na aaye
man ka panchhi shor machaaye
aaja tujh bin chain na aaye

We know most of our regulars for several years and we think that we have good information about many of them, but it is only when one begins to write about them that we comes across some unknown facts about our regulars.

Next in the series of our regular contributors, the name that I have taken up for discussion is Vidur Sury.

With some apprehensions and some anxiety, I put forward my first effort at writing an article on this blog. As has been mentioned by Sudhir ji in the previous post, I have been active in the comments space since September 2012. However, the delay in the first post coming up here, has not been from my side. ;) This first post I had written almost a year ago, and sent to Atul ji in June last year. For some reasons, maybe it got lost in the pile of emails he receives, which he assures me, is the case.
