“Parasmani” (1963) was the first movie to be released where Laxmikant Pyarelal were the independent music directors.Its “hansta hua nooraani chehra ” became the most popular song from this movie, though in reality Laxmikant Pyarelal regarded that song as their poorest effort in the movie.
Now that I am gradually getting acquainted with the other songs of this movie, I am becoming more and more amazed at the quality of the songs of this movie. I am also veering round the view that other songs of “Parasmani” were superior songs vis a vis “hansta hua nooraani chehra”. For instance, the Rafi song from “Parasmani” viz “Raushan tumhin se duniya” must be one of the best songs of this movie. In fact, this must be one of the best songs sung by Rafi. The initial aalaap of this song itself will separate men from boys as far as singing this song is concerned.
And what about this Lata song ? I have listened to this song in the past, but it is only just now that I have realised that this song too is from “Parasmani”. What a joyous song ! Lata’s voice sound at its most joyous in this song. And this was definitely not an easy song to sing.
The lyrics by Farooque Qaiser are just wonderful.
This song is picturised on Geetanjali. Mahipal is also visible in the picturisation.
This song is a masterpiece. In fact, I suppose the same can be said about most songs from this movie.
