Naina deewaane ek nahin maane

Posted on: September 23, 2009

I keep mentioning repeatedly that there are countless gems lying there that have been forgotten with time.

Many of these songs may be unknown just to me and well known to others, but there are many songs that may be obscure for most music lovers.

This movie “Afsar” (1950) had very good music and its songs are of historical significance. It is in this movie that Suraiyya and Geeta Dutt ( they Roy) sang together in a song for the first and only time.

This song however is a different song and a solo song , sung by Suraiyya, and therefore picturised on her too.

This song is written by Pt Narendra Sharma and its music is composed by S D Burman.

Song-Naina deewaane ek nahin maane (Afsar) (1950) Singer-Suraiyya, Lyrics- Pt Narendra Sharma, MD-S D Burman

Lyrics

naina deewaane
naina deewaane ik nahin maane ye
kare manmaani maane naa
naina deewaane
huye ye paraaye man haar aaye
man kaa maram jaane naa,
maane naa, maane naa
naina deewaane ik nahin maane ye
kare manmaani maane naa
naina deewaane

jaanaa na jaanaa man hi na jaanaa
chitwan ka man bana nishaanaa
kaisaa nishaanaa kaisaa nishaanaa
man hi pahchaane naa
maane naa maane naa
naina deewaane ik nahin maane ye
kare manmaani maane naa
nain deewaane

jeewan beli kare athkheli
jeewan beli kare athkheli
mahke man ke bakul
prit phul phoole jhoolaa jhoole
chahke man bulbul, mahke man ke bakul
man kyaa jaane kyaa hogaa kal
dhaar samay ki bahti kal kal
jeewan chanchal jeewan chanchal
din jaake phir aane naa
maane naa maane naa
naina deewaane ik nahin maane ye
kare manmaani maane naa
naina deewaane
