Atul’s Song A Day- A choice collection of Hindi Film & Non-Film Songs

Mere khayaalon mein aake gale lagaa jaa mujhe

Posted on: December 2, 2009

While discussing old songs in this blog, I post video links from these movies. While doing that, I often tend to take them for granted. But the fact remains that much hard work is involved in getting these videos uploaded.

here are many obscure movies which are all but lost. Just a few prints of these movies may be remaining with some zealous collectors. In case these collectors decide to share them, these movies will remain available, else they will be lost with time.

From youtube, I have noticed that M M video of Pakistan is one of the biggest sources of such rare and difficult to find videos. I am really amazed at the dedication and motivation of the people who may be hard at word preserving these movies, making VCD/DVD of these movies from films and sharing them with old movie buffs. They are one of the biggest custodians of old Bollywood movies. I take my hat off to them.

Here is a song from an obscure movie called “Gunaah” (1953). It is sung by Talat Mehmood. Kidar Sharma is the lyricist and Roshan is the music director.

This song is picturised on Jagdev and Geeta Bali. Just who is this Jagdev ? He is the actor who played Waheeda Rehman’s boy friend in “Solva Saal” (1958). It is nice to see him singing a song in a movie.

The video quality as well as the sound quality is poor, but that is to be expected. The fact that the print of a forgotten movie like this exists is in itself a minor miracle. It was difficult to make out the words of the song, but I have managed to get the lyrics right. I hope audio version of this song with better quality audio may be floating around somewhere. If I can find it, I will provide that link too. In the meanwhile enjoy (as best as you can)this fogotten gem of a song from “Gunaah” (1953).

Song-Mere khayaalon me aake gale lagaa jaa (Gunaah) (1953) Singer-Talat Mehmood, Lyrics-Kidar Sharma, MD-Roshan

Lyrics

mere khayaalon mein aa ke gale lagaa jaa mujhe
gale lagaa jaa mujhe
ki aaj phir meraa ji chaahtaa hai rone ko
ki aaj phir meraa ji chaahtaa hai rone ko
ki aaj phir meraa ji chaahtaa hai rone ko

namak chhidakte hain le le mazaa wahi aansoo
haay re wahi aansoo
namak chhidakte hain le le mazaa wahi aansoo
haay re wahi aansoo
jo tere dar pe mile dil ke zakhm dhone ko
jo tere dar pe mile dil ke zakhm dhone ko
ki aaj phir meraa ji chaahtaa hai rone ko

thakaa huaa hai musaafir sawaal hai daataa
sawaal hai daataaa
thakaa huaa hai musaafir sawaal hai daataa
sawaal hai daataaa
kafan dilaa mujhe munh dhaanpne ko sone ko
kafan dilaa mujhe munh dhaanpne ko sone ko
ki aaj phir meraa ji chaahtaa hai rone ko
mere khayaalon mein aa ke gale lagaa jaa mujhe
gale lagaa jaa mujhe

Your video link is no longer available. Here is the new one though song seems to abruptly ending in this video:

There is also the video of audio version :

There is a beautiful song by Lata in this movie which I heard for the first time today. Here it is :

Incidentally, uploaders of these videos give credit to Snehal Bhatkar as music director. After listening to Lata’s song in this movie, I guess, Snehal Bhatkar may be correct.

I stumbled upon Talat Mahmood’s LPs titled ‘Romantic songs of Talat Mahmood’ in which this song was included and the credit for music director has been given to ‘Snehal’. I guess, ‘Snehal’ and Snehal Bhatkar are the same.
