Atul’s Song A Day- A choice collection of Hindi Film & Non-Film Songs

Ek do teen aaja mausam hai rangeen

Posted on: July 10, 2010

I have posted as many as six songs from “Aawaaraa” (1951) in this blog, which are mostly sung by Lata and Mukesh. But this movie has other songs sung by other singers too.

Here is a song from “Aawaaraa” (1951) which is sung by Shamshad Begam. It is picturised as a party song on Cuckoo and others. I hope I have identified Cuckoo correctly, though I will not be too surprised if my identification is wrong. 😉

The song is sung by Shamshad Begam. Shailendra is the lyricist and Shankar Jaikishan composed the music.

Song-Ek do teen aaja mausam hai rangeen (Aawaara) (1951) Singer-Shamshad Begam, Lyrics-Shailendra, MD-Shankar Jaikishan

Lyrics

ek do teen,
aajaa mausam hai rangeen
aajaa,
ek do teen,
aajaa mausam hai rangeen
raat ko chhup-chhup ke milnaa
duniyaa samjhe paap re
baap re
ek do teen,
aajaa mausam hai rangeen
aajaa,
ek do teen,
aajaa mausam hai rangeen

ye madmast jawaani hai
ye madmast jawaani hai
tere liye ye deewaani hai
doob ke is gehraayi mein
doob ke is gehraayi mein
dekh ke kitnaa paani hai
ek do teen,
aajaa mausam hai rangeen
aajaa,
ek do teen,
aajaa mausam hai rangeen

kyun tu mujhe thukraataa hai
kyun tu mujhe thukraataa hai
mujhse nazar kyun churaataa hai
loot le duniyaa teri hai
loot le duniyaa teri hai
pyaar se kyun ghabraataa hai
ek do teen,
aajaa mausam hai rangeen
aajaa,
ek do teen,
aajaa mausam hai rangeen

Atul, came across your blog while searching for this song. (I’d heard of it before, am only now visiting it.) It’s a wonderful (and difficult) chore that you have set yourself. Congratulations.

One minor correction – this is not a party song. It’s set in a bar. A rather low-brow bar at that 🙂 And the conversation you hear, and the raucous laughter? They are from the patrons who pass ribald remarks, laugh, talk etc., like it would happen in a real bar.

Thanks for your visit as well as comment. I often tend to use the word party song even in case of bar songs. Yes, bar song would be a better description for such songs.

Atul Ji, we have covered 9 songs from the movie. Are there any other songs we have not discussed yet? Arun Ji please help :).

Pradeepji,
According to my CD list, all songs are covered. But one song, missing from my CD needs to be posted. “Jhulam sahe bhaari janak dulaari…. by Mohd Rafi

Arunji ki raah dekhenge.

Thank you Khyati Ji, I have never heard this song before. What would we do without Arun Ji :).

“Arun”ji ke bina to total blackout- Suryagrahan (Solar eclipse) 😥

I would like to correct a minor typing mistake in the lyrics. It should be Raat ko chhup-chhup ke milne duniya samjhe paap re- BAAP RE, and not another PAAP RE.

One peculiar thing about this song is that you can hear lot of background noise as you would hear in a bar.I have not heard any other such song which has used so much of background noise which is not musical.
