Billi bajaaye baajaa

“Sahaara” (1958) is one of those movies that have been totally forgotten with time. But when one watches the movie, or listens to the songs, one realises that this movie and/or its songs deserve to be much better known instead of lying forgotten.
Here is a lovely song from this movie. This song is picturised with Meena Kumari (playing a visually impaired mother) trying to win over her estranged kid played by Honey (or Daisy) Irani. The song is sung by Lata (for Meena Kumari) and Aarti Mukherji (for the kid). Bharat Vyas has written the cute lyrics. Hemant Kumar is the music director.
It is a nice kids’ song which I had stumbled upon a few months ago, but I was not posting it because I was findng it difficult to get the lyrics fully. Now that I have managed to decipher much of the lyrics (though not all), I felt that it was time for me to discuss this song.
This song is one of the forgotten gems. It could well be one of the great kids’s song created in Hindi movies, if only more listeners were aware about the existence of this song.
