Atul’s Song A Day- A choice collection of Hindi Film & Non-Film Songs

Bahaaron ki baaraat aa gayi

Posted on: February 1, 2011

Though I have seen “Yakeen” (1969) in a movie hall, I do not remember most of its details except a couple of songs that I have already discussed in this blog. I in fact do not even remember the other songs from this movie.

when I got to read the review of this movie in Memsaab’s blog, I came to know from the review and the comments that this movie had a song with Dharmendra’s antique car being its centre of attraction. I thought that this song had to be Yakeen karlo mujhe muhabbat hai tumse tumse but the car did not appear to be the centre of attraction in that song, rather Sharmila Tagore’s short shorts were. So that set me thinking. and after reading the comments carefully, I realised that this song was an entirely different song. And here is that song.

This song is a joie de vivre song. Dharmendra is driving away in the car, with a “all is well in the world” air. Of course, there is nothing like going on a long drive on the highway in a car. Dharmendra is rightly in a jovial and happy mood. Even a flat tire (that takes place after he has sung two paras of the song) cannot dampen Dharmendra’s spirits. He changes the tyre and continues on his journey.

This car song from “Yakeen”(1969) is sung with his customary gusto by Rafi. Hasrat Jaipuri is the lyricist. Music is composed by Shankar Jaikishan.

Here is this car song that our beloved Memsaab rates as her favourite car song.

Song-Bahaaron ki baaraat aa gayi (Yakeen) (1969) Singer-Rafi, Lyrics-Hasrat Jaipuri, MD-Shankar Jaikishan

Lyrics

Bahaaron ki baaraat aa gayi
khushi ko leke saath aa gayi
suno to mere dil
suno to meri jaan
hothon pe dil ki baat aa gayi
bahaaron ki baaraat aa gayi
khushi ko leke saath aa gayi
suno to mere dil
suno to meri jaan
hothon pe dil ki baat aa gayi
bahaaron ki baaraat

mujhse dekho na sharmaanaa tum
meri baahon mein kho jaanaa tum
mujhse dekho na sharmaanaa tum
meri baahon mein kho jaanaa tum
intezaari ki hadd ho chuki
aur jyaadaa na tarsaanaa tum
aur jyaadaa na tarsaanaa tum
tum tum
bahaaron ki baaraat aa gayi
khushi ko leke saath aa gayi
suno to mere dil
suno to meri jaan
hothon pe dil ki baat aa gayi
bahaaron ki baaraat

aaj chhedi hawaaon ne bhi
pyaar ki mast shehnaayiyaan
aaj chhedi hawaaon ne bhi
pyaar ki mast shehnaayiyaan
waadiyaan ban gayin hain dulhan
jaise unki hon parchhaayiyaan
jaise unki hon parchhaayiyaan
aan aan
bahaaron ki baaraat aa gayi
khushi ko leke saath aa gayi
suno to mere dil
suno to meri jaan
hothon pe dil ki baat aa gayi
bahaaron ki baaraat

Can’t believe you had not posted this song till now! I must’ve forgotten to give it as a farmaish 🙂 though I mentioned it earlier on your blog, with the “yakeen kar lo” song.

This used to one of my favorite songs as a young boy. I just love this – the car, Dharmendra, the whole mood of the song – it is all so great! Positive energy all round.

ONE of my favorite car songs! (I gave the title of it in the review too, lol) 🙂 I am glad it has made its way onto your blog finally, in this fine category. He is just so happy driving along in that cute little roadster.

You gave the title in the review ? I found about this song the hard way. Finding a song the easy way is not for me (no challenge).

I did. I realize that people don’t actually read what I write, and just look at the pictures, and it’s okay 😉

ps One of the reasons I love car songs is that the driver always spins the steering wheel madly as he drives along, which of course would cause him to go off the road in less than a second were he actually driving!

Not only does the driver spins the steering wheel madly, even the car shakes rhythmically in close up shots. There are a few movies where monkeys drive cars (thankfully without singing) and one finds them constantly having a go at the steering wheel.

men and monkeys are not very different, after all 😀

I have found this wonderful site only recently. Great work you r doing. U have some unheard songs also. But I was not able to find many a famous songs in here.

This song also i do not remember ever hearing, but the way you described it “sung with customery gusto” made me very curious to see, if it was one of those songs where the range of rafi’s voice is exploited to the limits(it appears it had no limits), by shankar-jaikishan. The duo , i believe were lucky to have rafi sing such songs, which gave them liberty to compose anything and almost everything. Can u imagine any other singer, singing this song with such “gusto”, so effortlessly, maintaining the voice quality and not losing control of the song, or that he is singing for dharamedra, all at the same time.

Indeed many well known songs are yet to be discussed, despite discussing over 3400 songs as of now. There are just far too many great songs that deserve to figure here.I am sure I will be able to discuss the missing songs as we move along.
