Atul’s Song A Day- A choice collection of Hindi Film & Non-Film Songs

Do bechaare binaa sahaare

Posted on: March 10, 2011

In the early 1970s, when I was growing as a pre teen kid, I used to listen to Hindi movie songs and I longed to watch the movies containg these songs. The movies that I wold have dearly loved to see those days, since I loved their songs, were “Seeta Aur Geeta” (1972) and “Victoria No. 203” (1972). But unfortunately I could never see these two movies at that time. That remains a big regret of my life to this day.

The song of “Victoria no. 203” that was most responsible behind my longing to watch the movie was the song “do bechaare binaa sahaare dekho pooch pooch kar haare”. Though I did not get to see the movie, I came to know from those who had seen it that the song was picturised on Ashok Kumar and Pran, who look for a lock in fit a key that they have. What fun ! I too wanted to join them vicariously on their search.

These days one can watch these movies at home because technology has made it possible, but the experience of watching movies in a movie hall as a pre teen kid can never be replicated. In fact, that experience can no longer be replicated today by anyone. Those days are firmly gone, never to come back.

Here is this song from “Victoria no. 203”, which I loved to bits those days. This fun song is sung by Mahendra Kapoor and Kishore Kumar. Verma Malik is the lyricist. Music is composed by Kalyanji Anandji.

Song-Do bechaare binaa sahaare (Victoria no 203) Singers-Mahendra Kapoor, Kishore Kumar, Lyrics-Verma Malik, MD-Kalyanji Anandji

Lyrics

do bechaare
binaa sahaare
do bechaare
binaa sahaare
dekho poochh-poochh kar haare
bin taale ki
o chaabhi lekar
phirte maare-maare
main hoon raajaa
ye hai raanaa
o main deewaanaa
ye mastaanaa
donon milke gaaye gaanaa
o haseenaa haan
o zaraa ruk jaanaa

do bechaare binaa sahaare
dekho poochh-poochh kar haare

tu bataa de
iskaa preetam kahaan pe chhupaa hai
tu bataa de
iskaa preetam kahaan pe chhupaa hai
o kuchh pataa de
wo to niklaa badaa bewafaa hai
kuchh bol bol o raani
bolo
kuchh bol bol o raani
o kahaan iskaa rooth gayaa jaani
o mastaani
koyi nishaani yaa zubaani
bolo raani meharbaani
o haseenaa haan
o kuchh bolo naa

mujhe kuchh nahin pataa
kuchh nahin pataa
chal raajaa
ab yahaan bhi baj gayaa baajaa
do bechaare binaa sahaare
dekho poochh-poochh kar haare

tu bataa de
iskaa miltaa nahin hamko locker
tu bataa de
iskaa miltaa nahin hamko locker
kuchh pataa de
tere ban jaayenge ham naukar
o sasuraal se dekho ham aaye
haan
sasuraal se dekho ham aaye
chaabhi lekar chakraaye
hain ghabraaye
aake tumse hi takraaye
dhakke khaaye
samajh naa aaye
o paape haay
o kuchh bolo naa
oy mujhe kuchh nahin pataa
chal raajaa
paape ne bhi bajaa diyaa baajaa
do bechaare binaa sahaare
dekho poochh-poochh kar haare

ae swaami
ae antaryaami
arre deenbandhu
he jagadpati ki jai

o swaami
toone kaisaa kiyaa hai ghotaalaa
antaryaami
toone kaisaa kiyaa hai ghotaalaa
o de di chaabhi
par diyaa hai nahin hamko taalaa
gar maal milegaa zyaadaa
gar maal milegaa zyaadaa
o tujhko de denge aadhaa
ye hai waadaa
kyaa iraadaa
koyi kaam nahin hai zyaadaa
le ke jaanaa aadhaa-aadhaa
o baabaa
haan
o binti sun lo naa
o swaami jee
o antaryaami jee
kuchh to bolo
do bechaare
binaa sahaare
dekho poochh-poochh kar haare
bin taale ki
chaabhi lekar
phirte maare-maare
main hoon raajaa
ye hai raanaa
o main deewaanaa
ye mastaanaa
donon milke gaayen gaanaa
o haseenaa
haa
o zaraa ruk jaanaa

do bechaare
binaa sahaare
dekho poochh-poochh kar haare
dekho poochh-poochh kar haare
dekho oon oon oon haare
