Most people do not value time as much as they value money. They do not realise that time, unlike money, continues to slip under our fingers irretrievably, every monent of our life. sixty minutes make an hour, and twentyfour such hours make a day. Thirty such days make a month, a couple of months make a season, six such seasons make a year, and with that one year is gone. Like this years continue to slip away. Most people waste their childhood in playing and their youth in carnal pleasures. And before they realise it, they have wasted their whole life without doing anything worthwhile ! They have wasted all the opportunities that came their way !
I am a form believer in this fact that one should make the most of ones time, and I was thrilled to find a song that actually talks about this philosophy. And such a philosophical song came quite early in the history of Hindi movies.
Here is this great gem of a song which is from “Pooran Bhagat” (1933). “Awsar beeto jaat praani” (Opportunity is continuing to slip away,dear creature) is a fantastic philosophical song. It is sung by none other than our beloved K L Saigal. R C Boral is the music director.
This remarkable song is written by Basant Kumar Dubey who was a discovery of R C Boral. Unfortunately, this was the only movie of Basant Kumar Dubey as he met with an untimely death soon after this movie. Indeed, the time ran out abruptly for him.
Here is this forgotten gem, that needs to be heard by all music lovers.
