Most songs discussed in this blog are movie songs which were included in the movie when that movie was released. But there are some cases in which songs, even though they were recorded as part of the movie ended up getting excluded from the movie for one reason or the other. In some cases, the movie makers decided to exclude the song, in some cases, censors ordered the exclusion of the song, and in one case, this was done one week after the movie was released !
There is a case when a singer got a song(Chain se hamko kabhi(Pran Jaaye par vachan na jaaye)(1973) ) excluded from the movie because of her estrangement from the music director.
And then there are cases when the DVD/VCD makers decide to exclude songs from their DVD/VCD !
In all these cases, music lovers are the losers. The people, who decide to deprive music lovers of such songs, really have little appreciation of good music.
And then there are cases when some songs, which were considered for exclusion from the movie, survived and stayed as part of the movie. “Dosti” (1964) had quite a few songs that were being considered for exclusion. They all survived and became hugely popular.
Many of these songs excluded from movies were extremely nice songs and in many cases, they could well have been the best song of the movie !
Here is a song from “Heer Ranjha” (1970) that ended up getting excluded from the movie though the song was picturised.
Fortunately, the audio of this song was released.
Here is this song from “Hee Ranjha” (1970). This song is sung by Rafi and it was picturised on Raj Kumar (as can be seen from the short video clip). Kaifi Azmi is the lyricist and music is composed by Madan Mohan. The lyrics of this song are provided by nahm.

This is too good a song to be deleted from the film. A shortened version with a stanza less, would have been ideal. Any way, being cut from the movie didnt make it less popular. It was there in the Audio cassette of HMV of this film and played on the radio regularly.
