on:“Aawaaz” (1956) is a Mehboob Production movie. This movie was directed by Zia Sarhadi. The sttar cast of this movie had names like Rajendra Kumar, Nalini Jaywant, Usha Kiran, Zul Vellani, Anwar, N. Hussain, Mukri, Murad, Leela Chitnis, Jagdeep in it.
I have discussed two songs from this movie in the past. Here is another song from this movie. This movie is a street song, where Anwar Hussain sings this song in what seems to me like a gathering of truck drivers. I have not seen the movie and so I request our knowledgeable readers to throw more light on the picturisation of this song.
The song is written by Zia Sarhadi. Music is composed by Salil Chaudhary.

Atul ji,
AAWAZ(1956) was a Mehboob production, directed by Zia Sarhadi. The story was by his Russian wife-Henrietta Zia,dialogues and few songs were written by him(there were 3 more lyricists also).
ZIA SARHADI who was dubbed as “unaffiliated Marxist” had made all his film inclined towards Soviet style socialism. In his films, there used to be a class struggle and an emphasis on the myth that all rich people are bad and all poor are exploited.
Aawaz was also one such story of a Rich industrialist and the sad story of his foreman/masterjee Bhatnagar played soulfully by Nazir Hussain. The story was full of melodrama, tragedy and criticism on the system/establishment and exploitation.Added to it were the Dowry and sexual exploitation(both by rich on the poor) problems.
Zia Sarhadi was born in Peshawar in 1914.He came to Bombay to help friend Mahboob khan for the film ‘Deccan Queen’-1936,an action thriller. In this film he did the story,dialogues,s/play/lyrics and direction. He was an actor, director and lyricist for many films upto 1956.
He migrated to Pakistan in 1957 and made only 1 film,Rahguzar.Due to his philosophy he got entangled with Pak censors and then General Ayub Khan was after him.He was arrested for sedition and tortured in jail.
He shifted to London,as a compromise and lived for 15 years in self exile. He died unsung in Madrid,Spain in November 1996.
He ill be remembered for Footpath-53,Humlog-51,badi Maa-45 and for dialogues of Baiju Bawra-52.
