“Barsaat” (1949) was the movie that announced the arrival of Shankar Jaikishan as a music director of note, and they dominated Hindi movie music world for the next two decades.
“Barsaat” (1949) was such a musical block buster that its songs are still popular and will continue to remain so in future as well.
I have discussed as many as 8 songs from this movie, but that does not cover all the songs. A few timeless songs from this movie are still not discussed.
Here is one of these songs. This song is sung by Lata and it is picturised on Nargis and Raj Kapoor. The voice of Lata, the lyrics of Jalal Malihabadi and the music of shankar Jaikishan, added to the lovely picturisation makes this song a multimedia musical bonanza for the senses.
Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Atif M.

Lyrics(Provided by Atif M)
ho o o
o o o o o o
o o o o
ho o o o
mujhe kisi se pyar ho gaya
ho o o o
mujhe kisi se pyar ho gaya
pyaar ho gaya
dil beqaraar ho gaya
beqaraar ho gaya
ho o o o
mujhe kisi se pyaar ho gaya
ho o o o
mujhe kisi se pyaar ho gaya
dard chaaha thha hum ne chhipaana
khul gaya phir bhi dil ka fasaana
dard chaaha tha hum ne chhipaana
khul gaya phir bhi dil ka fasaana
dil ne yeh kya kiya
o salone piya
mora dhadke jiya
ho o o o
mujhe kisi se pyar ho gaya
ho o o o
mujhe kisi se pyar ho gaya
jo chhipaana maine chaaha
aankhon ne keh diya
aankhon ne keh diya
aur jo maine kehna chaaha
dil mein hi reh gaya
ho o o o
mujhe kisi se pyar ho gaya
ho o o o
mujhe kisi se pyar ho gaya
aankhon aankhon mein kar ke ishaare
kis ne dil se kaha hum tumhaare
aankhon aankhon mein kar ke ishaare
kis ne dil se kaha hum tumhaare
haaye yeh kya kiya
o salone piya
mora dhadke jiya
ho o o o
mujhe kisi se pyaar ho gaya
ho o o o
mujhe kisi se pyaar ho gaya
pyaar ho gaya
dil beqarar ho gaya
beqaraar ho gaya
ho o o o
mujhe kisi se pyaar ho gaya
ho o o o

Atif ji, Atul ji,
My one reaction is – wow, this song was not already posted? OMG.
From the list of such superlative songs in this film, my vote is for this song to be the best song. The picturization is superb, and Nargis is simply divine in this song. Just love it.
Thanks for it. 🙂

Indeed, I reacted exactly the same to find this song missing from the blog.
Similarly, just like you, of all the amazing songs from Barsaat which seem to outdo each other in terms of beauty and elegance, this one stands out as the apex of grace, charm and tuneful melody. And to think it was a debut effort from a new pair of boys off the block! Wow.
