Sun le tu dil ki sadaa

Posted on: February 26, 2012

“Tere Ghar Ke Saamne” (1963) was a Navketan International presentation and it was directed by Vijay Anand. Starcast of the movie had Dev Anand, Nutan, Pratima Devi, Rashid Khan, Harin Chattopadhyaya, Om Prakash, Parveen Choudhary, Jankidas, Rajendranath etc in it.

The movie had great songs coming out of every pore of the movie. As many as five songs from this movie have already been discussed and there are a few more songs still waiting to get discussed.

Here is another song from this movie. This song is a Rafi solo, and it has not one but two versions. Both versions are picturised as a get together song in the movie. Dev Anand lip syncs the song while the other guests look on.

Hasrat Jaipuri is the lyricist. Music is composed by S D Burman.

Lyrics of this song were sent to me by nahm.

First version: Rafi solo

Ho o o
sun le tu dil ki sadaa
sun le tu dil ki sadaa
pyaar se pyaar sajaa
sun le tu dil ki sadaa
pyaar se pyaar sajaa
sun le tu dil ki sadaa

aaj tak job hi hua
jhoothe jhagdon ne kiya
aaj tak jo bhi hua
aaj tak jo bhi hua
jhoothe jhagdon ne kiya
pyaar hota kuchh na hota
na ujadtey aashiyaan
sun le tu dil ki sadaa
pyaar se pyaar sajaa
sun le tu dil ki sadaa

pyaar jis ne na kiya
khaak duniya mein jiya
pyaar jis ne na kiya
pyaar jis ne na kiya
khaak duniya mein jiya
uska jeewan koyi jeewan
jaise veeraan bastiyaan
sun le tu dil ki sadaa
pyaar se pyaar sajaa
sun le tu dil ki sadaa

pyaar jis dil mein jawaan
samjho bhagwaan wahaan
pyaar jis dil mein jawaan
pyaar jis dil mein jawaan
samjho bhagwaan wahaan
maan le tu aur samajh le
dhadkanon ki yeh zabaan
sun le tu dil ki sadaa
pyaar se pyaar sajaa
sun le tu dil ki sadaa

pyaar dushman se badha
tab hai jeene ka mazaa
pyaar dushman se badha
pyaar dushman se badha
tab hai jeene ka mazaa
yeh zameen bhi tu banaa de
ek Milan ka aasmaan
yeh zameen bhi tu banaa de
ek Milan ka aasmaan
yeh zameen bhi tu banaa de
ek Milan ka aasmaan

Second version : Rafi solo

Sun le tu dil ki sadaa
pyaar se pyaar sajaa
sun le tu dil ki sadaa
pyaar se pyaar sajaa
sun le tu dil ki sadaa

haay gusse ki jhalak
lootey sukh chain talak
haay gusse ki jhalak
lootey sukh chain talak
sab se hil mil aye mere dil
aisi mehfil phir kahaan
sun le tu dil ki sadaa
pyaar se pyaar sajaa
sun le tu dil ki sadaa

meri awaaz ka teeer
jaayega dil ko bhi cheeer
meri awaaz ka teer
jaayega dil ko bhi cheer
khoye nafrat laaye ulfat
yeh asar hai meherbaan
sun le tu dil ki sadaa
pyaar se pyaar sajaa
sun le tu dil ki sadaa

pyaar rastaa hai mera
aa aa aa
aisa raahi hoon tera
aa aa aa
pyaar rastaa hai mera
aisa raahi hoon tera
na rahoon main
na rahe tu
par rahegi daastaan
sun le tu dil ki sadaa
pyaar se pyaar sajaa
sun le tu dil ki sadaa

do dilon ki yeh lagan
an an an an
jaane dharti aur gagan
an an an an
do dilon ki yeh lagan
jaane dharti aur gagan
tu jahaan hai
main wahaan hoon
jism do hain ek jaan
sun le tu dil ki sadaa
pyaar se pyaar sajaa
sun le tu dil ki sadaa
pyaar se pyaar sajaa
sun le tu dil ki sadaa
pyaar se pyaar sajaa
sun le tu dil ki sadaa

He is Harindranath Chattopadhyay. Not many people know that he was the younger brother of Sarojini Naidu! He was an actor, writer and a poet as well! Remember that Usha Uthup number from ‘Julie’…”Love’s just around the corner…”? The lyrics were written by him!

Lovely song. Not as often repeated on the radio as the other songs from the same movie.

I in fact think that I may never have heard this song before. 🙂

This is too good a song to be ignored. I have not heard this song on radio/f.m. at all. and hence have to rediscover it time and again. It is there in the CD but i never get around to hearing the CD’s.

The first version posted here is actually the climax of the film. I know Sudhir ji had given the story of the film in write up of ‘Ek ghar banaaunga “, but here is a recap:

Dev Anand’s father Om Prakash and Nutan’s father HC have had their lines crossed somewhere and are now sworn enemies. As they are staying in the same place (Nainital?) and belong to the same social circle, often clash and insult each other. Dev Anand is an architect and he falls in love with Nutan. If he wants to marry Nutan, he must somehow make the fathers leave their animosity. HC is not aware that Om Prakash is Dev Anand’s father. Both OP and HC buy Adjacent plots and are pressuring Dev Anand to build a fabulous house, better than the other house next door. Dev sees his opportunity and builds identical houses on both plots and the opening ceremony party is on, when OP and HC realise what has been done. Hence in the song he is beseeching both OP and HC to forget the differences and embrace so that Nutan and Dev Anand can marry and both familes can live happily as neighbors. As the song ends the film also ends.

This is a wonderful heart warming song that only Mohammed Rafi could have done justice to. Atul, thanks for this.
we sang this during farewell day in college and even now when I hear this song in my MP3 player there is a lump in my throat. Look at the lyrics – pyar se pyar badha, gusse ki jhalak loote sukh chain….
The movie was awesome. I strongly recommend it.
Especially the song where Dev goes in search of Nutan – Tu Kahan Yeh Bata. Also the song that was shot in Kutub Minar [don’t remember which one]…
In today’s times of hatred, I fail to understand why radio channels do not broadcast this song…

Every time I hear the lyrics, I salute rafisaab. what a great singer and what a great voice!

the song is ‘dil ka bhanwar kare pukaar, pyaar ka raag suno …’
I think the songs must be played on ‘vividh bharti’ or other programs even now.. though I also do not get to hear any one of it during the last one month of my ‘radio listening’ (may be we have missed ..) , after getting back to ‘radio days# after years ..
agree with you about the movie and its songs !! one of my all time favorite movie !!
