Aise machal ke nain badal ke

Posted on: July 3, 2012

Today (3 july) is the death anniversary of Raj Kumar. Raj Kumar made his debut as an actor in 1950s and his most productive decade as an actor was the decade of 1960s. There are actors who are remembered for songs picturised on him, but Raj Kumar is often remembered for some of the immortal dialogues picturised on her. For instance, the dialogue of “Waqt” (1975)- “ye bacchon ke khelne ki cheez nahin hai Chunar seth…”, and the “Paakeeja” (1971) dialogue’ “Aape paaon dekhe…”.

Unlike most actors, there have been relatively lesser number of well known songs picturised on Raj Kumar. Here is a song which features Raj Kumar and Kumkum. This song is lip synced by Kumkum and Raj Kumar does not get the opportunity to lip sync, but he is the centre of attraction in the song. Kumkum is seen wooing him in the song.

This song is from “Do Gunde” (1959). Asha Bhonsle sings the song with gusto and the two actors have acted nicely in the picturisation.

Majrooh Sultanpuri is the lyricist. Music is composed by Ghulam Mohammad.

Lyrics

aise machal ke
nain badal ke
aise machal ke
nain badal ke
chhod ke bainyya re
kahaan jaate ho sainyya
kahaan jaate ho sainyya

dekho ye gori bainyya
tere gale daaroongi
aaa aaa aaa
dekho ye gori bainyya
tere gale daaroongi
dil tera lene ko
gaalon ka til haaroongi
gaalon ka til haaroongi
koi pukaare
ghoonghatwaa ke
sainyya
chhainyya
haay
kahaan jaate ho sainyya
kahaan jaate ho sainyya
kahaan jaate ho sainyya

jaate ho jaao babu
kabhi na manaaungi
ho o o
jaate ho jaao babu
kabhi na manaaungi
khadi khadi dekhoongi
magar na bulaaungi
magar na bulaaungi
jaa jaa baalam
main na padoongi
tore painyya
o ho
kahaan jaate ho sainyya
kahaan jaate ho sainyya
kahaan jaate ho sainyya

aise na maanoge to
suno meri baansuri
aa aa aa
aise na maanoge to
suno meri baansuri
zulfon se baadhoongi
bedardi tera haath re
bedardi tera haath re
jaaye diya
par jaane na doongi tohe sainyya
haay haay
kahaan jaate ho sainyya
kahaan jaate ho sainyya
kahaan jaate ho sainyya
aise machal ke
nain badal ke
aise machal ke
nain badal ke
chhod ke bainyya re
kahaan jaate ho sainyya
kahaan jaate ho sainyya
kahaan jaate ho sainyya

No wonder he did not get songs as he had two left feet. He was a pathetic dancer. However nobody could beat him in his style of walking. He had a fantastic swagger. By the way it is Chinai Seth.

RAAJ KUMAR ,in my opinion, did not get many songs, because he did not do roles which suited song and dance. There could have been and there are many songs where dancing is not required, but people identified RAAJ KUMAR with sharp, incisive dialogues and not songs.
Incidentally, the famous dialogue of Paakiza ‘ aapke paon kitne haseen hai.Inhe zamin par mat rakhiye, maile ho jayenge’ was written by RAAJ KUMAR himself and was included in the film.

I liked his films namely Dil Ek Mandir, Mother India, Waqt, Kajal.
He was justifying his character. I pray to God to give eternal peace
to his saul.

Prakash ji,

Your selection lists are always very interesting. 🙂 I also remember the loud and angry song, “Jaao Jaao Tum Bhi Jaao . . ” from the film ‘Dil Ka Raja’ 1972, in the voice of Rafi; MD is Rahul Dev Burman.

Regarding the song from ‘Hamraaz’ – “Neele Gagan Ke Taley”; this one is a background song. It is picturized on Rajkumar and Vimi, but Rajkumar is not lip syncing it.

I haven`t seen the song you have mentioned(I will watch that one)Must be a crazy song like the crazy movie itself.
But I have watched another song from “Dil ka raja”picturised on Leena chandravarkar and Half naked Raj kumar ji, Jagdeep,Meena.T.
Raj kumar`s attempt to dance is hillarious and his dress ki baat hi mat karo:

“jinke paas haathi ghoda, unke paad dil hai thoda”

One of the best Raaj Kumar songs is Mujhe Zindagi Ki Dua Na De (Bhupinder/Galiyon Ka Baadshah):

Sorry
My intention is not to make fun of Raj Kumar ji , But the Hindi movie industry people are sometimes crazy. Just see another song of
Dil ka raja-rafi “Sundar ho aisi tum…… hare krishna bolo” and judge yourselves what they have done to the actor Raj kumar(who had done so many memorable roles)
