Hamne tumko dekha tumne hamko dekha aise

on:This article is written by Peevesie’s mom, a fellow enthusiast of Hindi movie music and a regular contributor to this blog.
This is a sequel to the Bachpan ka incident that I related the last time. My dear Peevesie reminded me of this and urged me to relate it also. It is a sweet memory which is referred to by my dad to her every time the song or scene of a particular movie comes on TV. And then we all have a good time thinking of those days.
Actually this happened when I was in school. My dad says that I used to be slow in finishing any assignments given if it was either boring or not to my liking. And as an incentive he used to dangle the incentive of a movie outing in front of me. And apparently it used to work. (Of course the added advantage for my dad was that he got to see another movie.) So what happened when “Khel Khel Mein” released in 1975 was, I was told that if I finish my some school work (don’t remember what as that is not of importance here) before some particular time I will be taken to see the movie. And as was my nature (then) I took it for granted that whatever happens dad will take me. So I was in a “Ki pharak painda” attitude. And come 8.30p.m. And I find my Dad bidding me “Bye” and going to see the movie with my sister. I am told that I protested for days at that time and mind it I must have been around 8 then. And I also do not remember why I had set my heart on seeing that movie. We didn’t have any TV promotions to entice us into seeing any movies back then. (Now I am feeling like Raja going down memory lane in his last write up, us zamaane mein aisa tha etc. ;)) But subsequently I must have seen that movie a 100 times more than my sister or must have accompanied my dad more number of times. But this topic comes up every once in a while and we have a good laugh over it.
Recently Peevesie has begun to appreciate classical music and artists. All thanks to SPIC-Macay. She has learnt the correct way of using the Microphone during concerts etc. So when she sees our bollywood stars enacting stage song sequences she cannot help but LOL!!! (That is SMS language for laugh out loud). So we were discussing “Meet Na Mila Re Man Ka” from Abhimaan & “Humne Tumko Dekha “from Khel Khel Mein”, and she pointed out how Rishi Kapoor was jumping around and was no where near the mike when he is singing. She was telling how she was sure that the audience would not have heard a word of what he sang but for Shailendra Singh!!! 😉
So here is that very song from “Khel Khel Mein”. It is sung by Shailendra Singh. Gulshan Bawra is the lyricist. Music is composed by R D Burman.

Yes, very popular song at that time and Shailendra Singh’s song are special for all those memories of mid-seventies. ‘o ri gori jaana tujhe ab kahaan re ….. (Do Jaasoos)’ is another favorite..
thanks for taking us back down memory lane !!!

Haha. Lovely read! I enjoy not just going down memory lane but also reading about other people’s memories during their trip down that lane. This was good fun to read.
This movie is one from the mid-70s, so right in the middle of my school days too. This song was very popular in its time. In fact all the songs of this movie were popular, I think.
