Atul’s Song A Day- A choice collection of Hindi Film & Non-Film Songs

Kuchh bhi kar lo ik din tumko

Posted on: September 28, 2013

This article is written by Peevesie’s mom, a fellow enthusiast of Hindi movie music and a regular contributor to this blog.

Hullo to all Atulites.

So what is it today? Lata Mangeshkar’s birthday. What was it yesterday? Yash Chopra’s birthday. What was it day before yesterday? Dev Anand’s birthday. So what do we get if we put a search for the above combination? A movie called “Josheela” which was released in 1973.

Actually I had sat to see which song we had, on the blog for Yash chopra’s birthday. Then I hit upon the idea of combining the three birthdays. It was rare for Yash Chopra to have RD Burman as his music director. Even rarer was the fact that Dev Anand was the hero. Only thing normal for a Yash Chopra movie in those days was to have Sahir Ludhianvi as lyricist. (he wrote for Yash Chopra’s Deewar and Daag). So let us hear this Kishore Kumar –Lata Mangeshkar song of Joshila. Picturised on a trying desperately to look young Dev Anand and a very young and oh so beautiful and glamorous Rakhee. {wonder why she never continued trying to look like this, why she started looking like an AMMA (not my observation that is my Peevesie’s remarks for all the heroines of that era)}

Song-Kuchh bhi kar lo ik din tumko(Josheela)(1973) Singers-Kishore Kumar, Lata, Lyrics-Sahir Ludhianvi, MD-R D Burman

Lyrics

kuchh bhi kar lo
ik din tumko meri hona hoga
kuchh bhi kar lo
ik din tumko meri hona hoga
hamaara-tumhaara
o dilbar-dilaara
na hoga guzaara

arre hoga
kuchh bhi kar lo
ik din tumko meri hona hoga
hamaara-tumhaara
o dilbar-dilaara
na hoga guzaara

arre hoga
kuchh bhi kar lo
ik din tumko meri hona hoga

baalon ki mehak mere liye hai arre re
gaalon ki chamak mere liye hai
la haath la a
ho
aise na bahak
main na miloongi ta ra ram
aur koi tak main na miloongi
peechhe na a a

baalon ki mahak mere liye hai
arre re re (la la laa)
gaalon ki chamak mere liye hai la haath la a (la la la)
ho aise na bahak
main na miloongi ta ra ram
aur koi tak main na miloongi peechhe na a a
hamaara-tumhaara
o dilbar-dilaara
na hoga guzaara

arre ho ga
kuch bhi kar lo
ik din tumko meri hona hoga
la la la la la la la la

hona hai tujhe
yoon bhi kisi ki are re re
aisi bhi hai kya
mere mein kameen
ye to bata aa aa
ho hona hoga jab mujhe kisi ki
taa ra ram
soch loongi tab
tere lie bhi jaldi hai kya a

hona hai tujhe
yoon bhi kisi ki are re re (la la laa)
aisi bhi hai kya mere mein kameen ye to bata a(la la laa)
ho hona hoga jab mujhe kisi ki a ra ram
soch loongi tab tere liye bhi
jaldi hai kya a

hamaaraa-tumhaara
o dilabar-dilaara na hoga guzaara
arre hoga
kuchh bhi kar lo
ik din tumko mera hona hoga
kuchh bhi kar lo
ik din tumko mera hona hoga

hamara-tumhaara o dilbar-dilaara na hoga guzaara
arre hoga
la la la la la la la la la la la

Its really ‘waah kya idea hain’, to combine the ‘3’ in ‘one’ plus ‘2’ great as bonus in ‘one’ (RD+Sahir) !!
Nice one to bring closer ‘Josheela-1973’ to be painted in ‘RED’ soon.

thank you for the compliment Avinashji. any way aaj kal toh combos ka zamaana hai!!!!!

Wow, what a combo Peevesie’s Mom ji,

It is such peculiar and interesting combinations that make this blog so unique. Every song has its own story, its own life.

Thanks for this well thought combo, and a wonderful song to bring this idea to life.

🙂

Sudhir

thank you sudhirji for your appreciation. it was just my wacko thinking that made me search for this song. and to be honest there was a comment by Sadanand Kamathji on the song from Deewar that i read recently when i revisited that song that gave a list of movies for which Sahir had written & RDB had given music for. that list put me on to this song. so the credit for this wacko thought goes to Kamathji

Celebrating three anniversaries in one song!!! No wonder why the umbrella is three times bigger than one necessary for Dev Sahab and that also with three color pattern. 🙂 🙂 🙂
Thanks for the combo, Peevesie’s Momji.
