“Suhaagan”(1964) was directed by K S Gopal Krishnan for A L S Productions. The movie had Guru Dutt, Mala Sinha, Feroz Khan, David Abraham, Leela Chitnis, Om Prakash, Nazir Hussain, Deven Verma, Indira, Lata Sinha, S. Varlaxmi etc in it.

Five songs from this movie have been discussed in the past. Here is the sixth and final song from the movie. This song is sung by Asha Bhonsle and chorus. The song is picturised on Mala Sinha playing a newly married bride, blushing heavily as newly married Indian brides are supposed to , and she is being teased by her sister in law (I am unable to identify her) and her sahelis, with Guru Dutt, playing the husband also visible in the picturisation.

Hasrat Jaipuri is the lyricist. Music is composed by Madan Mohan.

With this song, “Suhaagan” (1964) joins the list of movies that have all their songs covered in the blog.

Song-Aayi dulhan badi albeli (Suhaagan)(1964) Singer-Asha Bhonsle, Lyrics-Hasrat Jaipuri, MD-Madan Mohan
Chorus

Lyrics

aayi dulhan
badi albeli
mahakti chameli
nazar na lage
haaye
kisi ki nazar na lage
aayi dulhan
badi albeli
mahakti chameli

nazar na lage
haaye
kisi ki nazar na lage

jeet ke aayi
pyaar piya ka
dil se lagaaye haar piya ka
pyaar piya ka
dekho haar piya ka

jeet ke aayi
pyaar piya ka
dil se lagaaye
haar piya ka
mast umangen
naach uthhi hain
rang na poochho
uske jiya ka
meri banno
meri banno
ghazab ki rangeeli
magar sharmeeli

nazar na lage
haaye kisi ki nazar na lage

chhod ke aayi din bachpan ke
le kar aayi geet milan ke
din bachpan ke
gori geet milan ke

chhod ke aayi din bachpan ke
le kar aayi geet milan ke
apne piya ki prem deewaani
waari jaaun is dulhan ke
meri laado
meri laado
badi hi sajeeli
ankhiyaan raseeli

nazar na lage
haaye kisi ki nazar na lage

ghar ki badi hai
dil ki badi hai
jo bhi ada hai
pyaar bhari hai
dil ki badi hai
dekho pyaar bhari hai

ghar ki badi hai
dil ki badi hai
jo bhi ada hai
pyaar bhari hai
is ke hi dam se
aayi bahaaren
saas nanadiya sabse huyi hai
meri laajo
meri laajo
badi hi sajeeli
nipatiya akeli

nazar na lage
haaye
kisi ki nazar na lage
aayi dulhan badi albeli
mahakti chameli

nazar na lage
haaye kisi ki nazar na lage
haan nazar na lage
haan nazar na lage

haan
kisi ki nazar na nazar na lage
haaye
kisi ki nazar na lage

I think S Varalaxmi was in the role of the sister-in-law.

@ Atul ji – Congratulations on covering all songs of ‘Suhaagan-1964’ and its joining to the ‘list of movies- all songs covered’

at 0:55 & 1:35 another lady with long chhoti & dark saaree comes, she is Lata Sinha,

Leela Chitnis can also be seen with Lata Sinha in the song picturisation.

and I thought( remember,it is a pure guess work) the lady lip syncing for the song looks like a young Udaya chandrika(I have seen her in Kannada Movies of late sixties), I may be wrong about Udayachandrika.(her name is there in the credits of the movie, that`s why I am taking chances) 🙂

But I haven`t seen S.Varalaxmi on screen, so It may be S.Varalaxmi.May be Venkataraman ji you are right.

Tamil/Telugu Movie audience can help us in this regard. I think,S.Varalakshmi is welll known South Indian(i.e.,Tamil/Telugu)Heroine cum singer. Am I right. I may be wrong, Please correct me.
