“Kashinath”(1943) was directed by Nitin Bose for New Theatres, Calcutta. The movie had Asit Baran Mukherji, Sunanda Devi, Bharati Devi, Nawab, Nemo, Puttan, Dilip Bose, Manorama, Buddhadev, Latika Mullick, Bijoli, Jawed Hussain, Radharani, Biren Das etc in it.

Two songs from this movie have been discussed in the past. Here is the third son from the movie. This song is a duet of the “nok jhonk” genre. HFGK mentions the singers name as Asit Baran and other voice. This other voice belongs to that of Bela Bose Mukherji (not to be confused with the actress of 1960s and 70s who is Bela Bose Sengupta) as confirmed by famous record collector Mr Girdharilal Vishwakarma.

This singer could be the same as the wife of Hemant Kumar, but it is not certain. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on this matter.

Here is this delightful song which is picturised on Asit Baran and Sunanda Bannerji. Pt Bhushan is the lyricist. Music is composed by Pankaj Mullick.

Song-Lo shuru huyi is baar (Kashinath)(1943) Singers-Bela Bose Mukherji, Asit Baran, Lyrics-Pt Bhushan, MD-Pankaj Mullick

Lo shuru huyi is baar
lo shuru huyi is baar
ham mein tum mein taqraar
bas mere dil kaa daag ho tum
kuchh nahin galey kaa haar
sunte ho
tum nahin galey kaa haar

main tere dil kaa daag sahi
main tere dil kaa daag sahi
par daag hoon pyaaraa pyaaraa
bin daag na degaa chaand kabhi
thandaa meeThaa ujiyaaraa
kaantaa na lagaa ho
kaantaa na lagaa ho phool ke saath
to phool hai bilkul Khaar
to phool hai bilkul Khaar
to phool hai bilkul Khaar

kyaa isii tarah ki hogi shuru
ham mein tum mein taqraar
ham mein tum mein taqraar

ek dafa phir koshish karo

ham mein tum mein hameshaa tani rahegi
kabhi na hogaa mel
kabhi na hogaa mel
bhoole to na honge
bhoole to na honge abhi tumhen
wo baalakpan ke khel
wo baalakpan ke khel
wo baalakpan ke khel
is baar magar kuchh
is baar magar kuchh aisi thhanegi
laakh banaaye nahin banegi
mil kar bhi rahenge alag-thhalag
jaise paani aur tel
main jaake kahin chhup jaaungaa aa
aur peehu peehu
peehu peehu
peehu peehu ki bol ke boli
dil mein dard uthhaaungaa

main dil kaa dard mitaane
aur man kaa meet manaane
jhat in charnon mein aan giroongi
kar ke prem pukaar
arre waah
kyaa isi tarah kii hogi shuru
ham mein tum mein taqraar
ham mein tum mein taqraar
ham mein tum mein taqraar

Atul ji,

‘Anya swar’ in 2 songs of Kashinath is that of BELA MUKHERJEE. There was no one,to my knowledge, named Bela Bose Mukherjee.
Bela Mukherjee was Hemant kumar’s student turned wife. Because she was also a Mukherjee,Hemant Kumar’s family opposed the marriage saying,” she is sa-gotra” ( of the same Gotra),due to which Hemant and Bela had to do marriage with help of friends, leave his house and stay in a rented one room tenement.

The other song sung by Bela M could be: beet rahi pooja ki ghadiya. She sang in
Farar-65, Bahu-55; Banndhan-56, Sahara -58, Fashion-59, NFS desh hamara hindustan, all under Hemantda and with Hemantda naturally; Maaldar under Satish Bhatia.
Pandit Bhushan penned in Hospital-43, Girdhar Gopal Ki Meera-49, Wapas-43; Meri Behan-44
Asit Baran sang in Sarovar ki Sundari-42; Jawab-42, Saugandh-42, Wapas-43, Azadi Ke Baad-51, Parineeta-53, Wasiyatnama-45; Arabian Nights-46, Manzoor-49,

nice one, enjoyed the post !!
