“Shankar Hussain”(1976) was produced by Hari Singhaani and Tajdar Kamal and directed by Yusuf Naqvi for Great Ganges Film Corporation. The story, screenplay and dialogues of this movie were written by Kamal Amrohi. The movie had Madhu Chhanda, Kanwaljit Singh, Madhu Malini, Suhail, Dina Pathak, Shahid Bijnori, Dr.Sree Ram Lagoo, Gajanan Jagirdar, Shatrujeet, Late Anjum, Uma Dutt, Radhey Bihari, Sameena, M.A.Lateef, Aqeel, Master Akbar, Master Udain, Master Tikku, Baby Pappu,Yunus Bihari, Aziz Siddique, Hakeem Basheer, Hakeem Latif, Junu Kashvi etc in it. The movie also had Friendly appearances By Ram Govind, Azmat Khan, Pasha and Guest Appearance by Pradeep Kumar and Special Appearances by Roopesh Kumar and Jalal Agha.

The movie had five songs in it. Four of them have been covered in the blog.

Here is the fifth and final song from the movie. This song is a nazm (I hope I am correct in my classifivcation) which is sung by Lata. Meer Anees is the lyricist. Music is composed by Khayyam.

Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Prakashchandra.

With this song, “Shankar Hussain”(1977) joins the list of movies that have all their songs covered in the blog.

This is not nazm but a mersia form of poetry generally associated with the sacrifice of Imam Hussain in Karbala.
