At last, “Mere DHIRaj ka badla SuDHIR-ji ne de hi diya.”
For quite a long time I was ignorant about this song except its mention in HFGK. Sudhirji, not only searched out the song for me, but also posted it on ‘YouTube’ to save my labour. I am going to thank him further, when as per his promise, he is going to colour-code the lyrics.
The last (Yipieeee) song of Navketan’s 1975 film Anjali seems to have been recorded when Lataji might have been on a tour abroad!! Otherwise, the gang from ‘Prabhu Kunj’ could have been complete. Sudha Malhotra might have been summoned to give voice to, may be for four females being picturized for this song. Sudha being in good books with Lataji, was may be the only and obvious choice to invite by the producer as well as MD Jaidev. (All imaginations of my fertile brain.)
All singers, in spite of all the precautions they took, have unanimously blamed the ‘painjaniyas’ for their misfortune of being caught of their ‘chori’ . We fully sympathise with them, and why not? After all, they are the melodious and sweetest voices that we have been cherishing through ages.

1. Color coded lyrics are now uploaded. I have tried my best to identify the lines with single singer. There may be errors. I request other friends and readers to please help with corrections, if any.
2. Regarding the film ‘Anjali’ बनाम ‘Arpan’. In an email communication, Harmandir ji has added another possible scenario. It appears that ‘Arpan’ is an abridged version of ‘Anjali’ created for foreign markets. In those markets, songs are not appreciated. And so, all the songs were edited out, except the one which carries the constant refrain – “Budhham Sharnam Gachhaami”. This song would be considered very relevant to the theme of the film. Other songs are probably not strongly linked to the main theme.

Bharatbhai, Sudhirji,
I thought we shall never be privy to the 4X lilting song. Na aapne zidd chhodi na unhone haar maani. The result is there for us to enjoy. The joy is akin to securing a drop of water in a desert. But this IS dessert no less.

Bonus !!! Bonus for the lovers of Jaidev’s music.
Click the following link for a superb snake-dance by Sitara Devi from 1975 film ‘Anjali’.
Since the dance does not have words to qualify itself as a song, I have included as a Bonus in the comments.
This is a very typical dance which only Sitara Ji could perform. In this film, she plays the role of mother of heroine Nimmi.To get her life back she is dancing before the Naag Devta. Kum Kum is also seen in this clip.
