Atul’s Song A Day- A choice collection of Hindi Film & Non-Film Songs

Chhod meri bainyyaan balam beimaan

Posted on: July 1, 2016

Hullo to all in Atuldom

So we are on our next movie which has one song left. This is the 1964 release “Door Gagan Ki Chaon Mein”. It was written, produced and directed by Kishore Kumar. The movie also had Kishore Kumar as music director.

I noticed that this movie was one short for yyiippeeeeing when I was doing research on “DON”. So I sat to compare the list of songs covered with the list of songs as mentioned in HINDIGEETMALA.net and the myswar.com sites.

Unfortunately I am not in possession of the HFGK so I can’t check there. Both the said sites mention the song “chhod meri baiyaan balam beimaan” and YouTube only has a link for the song’s audio. So I thought I will see the movie to get more idea about the song. (Anyways I don’t remember having ever seen it.) But I find that the song is not present in the YouTube version of the movie. Now I am unaware if the song was present in the original movie when it had released all those years ago. Guruji please help here. So this is perhaps a song which was recorded but never used. It is written by Shailendra and sung by Asha Bhonsle.

This is the first time I sat through a movie and kept comparing what was written about the various songs of the movie on our blog. (Resulting in a 2:15 min song writeup taking 3 hours to be completed ;-))

I saw that in the post to the Hemant Kumar song Raahi tu mat ruk jaanaa I have commented on what Atulji and Rajaji have said. (“I cannot believe that the 2 of u who r such a knowledge house of those times haven’t heard this song.)

This comment by me was in 2011 when I used to think of myself as an ustaad regarding Hindi fillum music. But subsequently my bubble has burst. I take back my words and any other such comment which I might have made anywhere on the blog. Why? Because after encountering 12100+ songs I have found that my knowledge house contains a very small number of songs. Also as far as this movie goes I know only Koyi lauta de mere beete huye din; “Aa chal ke tujhe” and Raahi tu mat ruk jaanaa ; all the other songs I heard for the first time on the blog.

On sitting through the movie what I felt was I was seeing one of the various Children’s Film Society movies which we used to be shown in our school. The story of the movie is neither hero- oriented nor heroine- oriented. It is showing the travails of the father and mute son along with the boy’s pet dog. Next what I noted was Kishore Kumar lip syncs only for Aa chal ke tujhe main le ke chaloon(Door Gagan Ki Chhaaon Mein); and the last stanza of the bhajan Hamen tujh bin kaun sambhaale.

The other shocking discovery was that the permanent COP of Hindi films “IFTIKAAR” is a villain here. He along with Raj Mehra and Sajjan are the thorn not in the hero’s flesh but in the heroine’s. Iftikaar actually has some Dishoom Dishoom to do actually not fisticuffs but with lathis. And going by what I saw I fell that the song that we are posting would have been meant to tease either Sajjan or Iftikaar.

So with this Door Gagan Ki Chaon Mein attains YYIIPPEEEE! status.

Song-Chhod meri bainyaan balam beimaan (Door Gagan Ki Chhaaon Mein)(1964) Singer-Asha Bhonsle, Lyrics-Shailendra, MD-Kishore Kumar

Lyrics

Ah chhod meri bainyaan balam beimaan
chhod meri bainyaan balam beimaan
aate jaate dekh lega koi
chhui muyi jaisi nanhi si meri jaan
chhui muyi jaisi nanhi si meri jaan
aate jaate dekh lega koi
chhod meri bainyaan

aaha nikli thhi lene balam bagiya se phool
nikli thhi lene balam bagiya se phool
baaton baaton mein teri raah gayi bhool
o o o o o
haaye re main aayi kahaan
chhoota ghar mera wahaan
udti hai door jahaan
ret bhari dhool
haaye re main aayi kahaan
chhoota ghar mera wahaan
udti hai door jahaan
ret bhari dhool
laage dar mujhko yahaan
haaye haaye haaye haaye
chhod meri bainyaan
chhod meri bainyaan balam beimaan
aate jaate dekh lega koi
chhod meri bainyaan

uh tapti hai raah sanam jalte hain paanv
tapti hai raah sanam jalte hain paanv
ambuva ke ped taley thhandi hai chhaanv
o o o o o
raste ke beech khadi
sochoon uljhan mein padi
logon ki nazar buri
jalta hai gaanvhoon
jaane kya keh de koi
haaye haaye haaye haaye
chhod meri bainyaan
chhod meri bainyaan balam beimaan
aate jaate dekh lega koi
chhui mui jaisi nanhi si meri jaan
aate jaate dekh lega koi
chhod meri bainyaan

Yippee tu mat ruk jaana 🙂

nice post Peevesie’s mom ji , and thanks for the info (part) of the movie. I have also not watched this movie or don’t remember if I have watched anytime in my childhood.

Congratulations Atul ji – Peevesie’s Mom ji on covering all songs of ‘Door Gagan Ki Chhaaon Mein-1964’ and its joining to the ‘list of movies – all songs covered’ 🙂
