“Mera Geet”(1946), a social movie, was a production of Jayshakti Pictures, Bombay. Names of its producer and director are not known. This movie had Naseem Junior, Susheel Kumar, Leela Pawar, Vikram Kapoor, Mehndi Raja, Bholaram, Kashinath, Chiman Seth, Baby Tara, Shalini, Nalini, Heera Date, Chandrika, Om Prakash Sharma, Mukri, Aathwale etc in it.

This obscure movie had sixteen obscure songs in it that were composed by five musc directors. HFGK does not have details of singers for any of these songs.

Here is the first song from “Mera Geet”(1946) to appear in the blog. This song is sung by Manna Dey, with humming by an unindentified female voice. Ramesh Gupta is the lyricist of this song containing “shudhh” Hindi words that sound quite sweet to the ears. Music is composed by Shankar Rao Vyas.

Only the audio of this song is available. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on the movie as well as on the picturisation of this song.

I have not been able to get a word right in the lyrics. I request our readers with keener ears to help fill in the blanks/ suggest corrections as applicable.

With this song, “Mera Geet”(1946) makes its debut in the blog.

aisi dhun ho meethhi meethhi
aisi dhun ho meethhi meethhi
(aa aa aa
naach uthhe sansaar saara

jab andhkaar chhaa jaata hai

tum bhi upvan ke pushp ki
priye madhur gandh harti laana

?? I hear it as ‘amiya’, meaning ‘amrit’.

Atul ji,

I have the image of the poster of this film according to which the film was produced by Ramesh Gupta (who was also the lyricist for all 16 songs) and was directed by Shanti Kumar.

There were 3 songs sung by Mohmmed Rafi (2 solos and 1 duet) which are available on YT. In addition two songs each of Shamshad Begum and Zohrabai Ambalewaali have been identified as per mp3 clips.
