I have heard this song many a times, but I had absolutely no clue about this song, except that this song was sung by Manna Dey.

Now I have found out that this song is from a movie called “Pardesi” (1957). Prem Dhawan has written the wonderfully hard hitting lyrics of this song and it is composed by Anil Biswas. This song gave an important social message at a time when discrimination on the basis of caste , creed etc was rampant in India. This song is a beautiful song with a mesage, and this song has quite deservingly gone on to become an immortal song.
