Raat ki hathheli par chaand jagmagaata hai

This is ‘ Desert ‘ song no. 9. I have not really planned these posts serial or order, just writing and sending posts for whichever song is found and inspiring some writing.
Here comes a night song in the desert. Like all natural vista’s, the desert has its own character and mystic. The night time can be fascinating as well as cooler or hotter as the climes, so I have read. Think of a night in desert, one song comes to mind, i.e Tu chanda main chandni from ‘Reshma aur Shera’.
Think some more, and I remember the fascinating song from ‘Lamhe’ – Morni baagaan maa .
What I would not have given to have the song ‘tu chanda main chandni ‘ to discuss at this stage. The culprit is myself only, for being so quick and sending the lyrics two years back. I could have made it a show stopper. And could have written at length about the mysterious shadows in the night and the golden sand turning silver. or vice versa with sunrise. Not that I write much in my posts, just two lines about this , two lines about that , and lo the posts is over.

Let us turn to the song at hand, which may not hold a candle to ‘tu chanda main chaandni’ , but is quite a decent composition by Anu Malik. Script writer turned lyricists Javed Akhtar wrote one of his finest songs for this film ‘Refugee’ (2000), which is ‘panchhi nadiyaa pawan ke jhonke’. He won a host of awards for this song.
Abhishek Bachchan and Kareena Kapoor made their debut with this film and were the hero and heroine, playing from characters from two sides of the Indo-Pak border. In this song Abhishek Bachchan is escorting Kareena Kapoor and her family members across the desert. It appears they are crossing the border to go to Pakistan illegally and Abhishek is helping them. I have not seen this film too. But it is fine, I have seen some of the songs now, so have a fair idea of what the film is about. Not too keen to watch it.
Coming back to the song, the song is cooling and soothing, as well as romantic. Udit Narayan is singing this song for Abhishek Bachchan.

If there is still scope for a desert song for your write-up, please consider ‘tu meri adhoori pyaas pyaas….hai guazaarish’ from GAJANI (2008). The song was shot on the location in Deadpan desert, Nimbia.

–Nahm, u can still file an amendment. Sudhirji adds enhancements all the time. I’m sure u too will be allowed to!

I dont think i can enhance the beauty of the song, so i will plead the fifth(or is that sixth), and let the song post be. 🙂
