‘Hifaazat’ (1987) was produced by A Suryanarayana and was directed by Prayag Raj. The main cast included Ashok Kumar, Nutan, Pran, Anil Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit, Bindu, Shakti Kapoor, Kader Khan, Gulshan Grover, Sharat Saxena, Bharat Bhushan, Lalita Pawar, Shubha Khote, Vikas Anand, Vinod Raut, Birbal etc. This was the first film in which Madhuri Dixit was paired with Anil Kapoor. However, the film failed at the box office. They were again paired in ‘Tezaab’ (1988) which became a great success at the box office. This success led to both of them working as a lead pair in the next 12 films.

Today’s song is from a religious film Sant Sakhu-1941.
The film was made by Prabhat Film company, Poona. It had 3 Directors – Damle, Fattelal and Raja nene. music was by the resident MD of Prabhat – Keshav Rao Bhole. His assistant was Vasant desai. Songs were written by P.L.Santoshi (8 songs) and Pt. Mukhram Sharma (2 songs). The rest of the 6 songs are not credited to anyone in HFGK.

If one take a look at the films made in the golden era of Hindi films, one notices that many mythological movies were made during those decades. This trend continued to some extent even in the decade of seventies. However, after mid-seventies or by early eighties, mythological movies have become conspicuous by their absence.

HEARTIEST CONGRATULATIONS FOR CROSSING THE MARK OF 16 MILLION VISITORS !
Today’s song is from a Costume film ” Raj Mukut” (1950).
The decade of the 1950 was the one in which possibly the highest number of films having “King and Queen” stories were made . A cursory look at the Film Title Index shows a total of 77 such film titles, starting with the letters “Raj…”. Out of these, 17 films are from the 50’s. There must be more films having the trio of ” King,Queen and the Vazir”, but starting with other words like Raami Dhoban or films starting with Samrat or words connected with kingdoms etc. Finally I gave up my ‘Research’ !

Today’s song is from the film Room No. 9 (1946).
There were 2 more rooms on which films were made – Room No. 17 and Room No.203. I wonder what happened to the other rooms ? I am also hurt by the title of a film as ” B-13 -Fear has a New Address” made in 2009. My flat number in Mumbai is B-13 and I never ever saw any Atulite frightened in my flat when so many ASAD meetings were held here ! And also when some members had stayed here overnight also ! However, I did not file any case against the film’s producer, lest it became ‘ an address to fear ‘ for him !
