In the first four episodes of the series, we listed actresses whose names begin with the first four letters of the alphabet and who had lip synced in Asha Bhonsle’s voice in the blog. Then we went on to cover a song that was lip synced by another actress whose name began with the same letter and who had not lip synced in Asha Bhonsle’s voice in the blog.
We managed to find “new” actresses (whose name begin with the first four letters of the alphabet) lip syncing in Asha Bhonsle’s voice for the first time in the blog. They were Anju Mahendru, Bhanupriya,Chandrakala and Divya Bharati.

Hullo Atuldom
With this post we wish Indian playback singer, and occasional music-composer, Sishtla Sreeramamurthy Janaki, (better known as S. Janaki) on her birthday on 23rd April. She turns 88 today.
She is one of the best-known playback singers in South India who has recorded nearly 48,000 songs in all the South Indian languages and Hindi, Sanskrit, Odia, Tulu, Urdu, Punjabi, Badaga, Bengali, Konkani etc. put together (I suppose) That is why I have called her INDIAN playback singer. She is also said to have sung in English, Japanese, German, and Sinhala. She is one of the most versatile singers in India. The language in which she sang the most songs in her career was Kannada, followed by Malayalam. She is widely acclaimed as the “Queen of Expression and Modulation”.

Today 4th August is the ninety-fifth birth anniversary of singer-actor-producer-director-lyricist & music director Kishore Kumar. He was born on 4th August 1929 at Khandwa (now in Madhya Pradesh). Kishore Kumar left this world at the age of fifty-eight on 13th Octorber 1987 in Bombay (now Mumbai).
Today we are paying our tributes to this multi-faceted genius on this blog.

Today’s song is from film Daku ki Ladki-54. I remember, there was a film in 1933 with the same title, featuring Sulochana, Dinshaw Bilimorea, Ghulam Mohd. Hadi etc. In that film, Ghulam Mohd. had done the role of the Daku, Sulochana was Daku’s Ladki and Dinshaw was the Police Officer.Ghulam Mohd. was known as ” The Prince of Imperial Film Company”, in those days.

She was 74 years when she passed away in 2004. And by then, she had spent the last four decades of her life in a self imposed seclusion. The separation from the public domain was so complete that many took her to have already departed from this world. When the tidings of her demise came, many were surprised.
Remembering Suraiya on the day of her passing away (31st January).

This duet was a combination of an upcoming Young male singer and a waning middle aged female singer. But there was ONE common thing between them. We all know, Talat had a ‘Tremor'( Kampan) in his voice-which set him apart from all other singers of his times. Few people know that even Rajkumari had a Tremor in her voice-albeit a faint one- which actually made her voice sweet and melodious making her voice different from others.
