Recently, I came to know of a film called AAYI PHIR SE BAHAAR (1960) for the first time when I heard a song from this film on a clip of songs from Radio Ceylon programme uploaded on YT. After a few google searches, I came to know the reason why this was an obscure film. It was a dubbed Hindi film of a Tamil film ‘Raja Rani’ (1956) with Hindi songs replacing Tamil songs. The Hindi version had Vedpal Verma as the music director. Since all the songs in Hindi were composed on the original tunes of Tamil songs, one can say that Vedpal Verma was more of a music arranger for the Hindi version songs than the music director.

“Dil Ki Raahen” (1973) was a Majida movies production. It was directed by B R Ishara. The movie had Amrit Lakhanpal, Rehana Sultan, Dilip Dutt, Rakesh Pandey, Sulochana, Johnny Whisky etc in it.

on:Between 1950s to 1970s, there was a series of British movies whose titles began with “Carry on..” . These movies were low budget comedy movies, whose comedy consisted of parody, farce, slapstick and double entendre, as wikipedia puts it. In India, I S Johar took a leaf out of this “Carry On” series movies, and he produced a few such movies whose titles began with “Johar in..”.

“Pyaar Kiye Jaa” (1966) was a runaway hit. Though Shashi Kapoor was the hero of this movie, it had many other entertainers in it, viz Kishore Kumar, Mehmood, Mumtaz ( then an upcoming actress) etc.
