I am sure other friends and listeners who lived by the music broadcast on the radio, in the late 1960s and early 1970s, would surely remember this fabulous Bhojpuri song. It is one of those unforgettable memories that will continue to play in the minds forever. It is just the way that Rafi Sb has sung this, makes it so endearing. Raja, one of the regulars of this blog needs no introduction. An enthusiastic blogger, who recently organised a get together of the regulars of this blog at his residence in Bangalore is a great fan of public tarnsport and he misses no opportunity on availing public transport. He fondly remembers his stay in New Delhi three decades ago when there used to be double decker buses in Delhi. Raja loved to ride on the upper deck and would love the feeling of being on top of the world.

Sometimes in happens in nature. When particular facility is absent, the nature makes up for it by bestowing extra capabilities in other facilities. No other example is more eminent and more gifted in the Indian film industry, than KC Dey – an artist who lost his eyesight completely, just as he entered his teen years. And this apparent handicap was compensated by nature, by gifting the young Krishna Chandra with exceptional memory, an extraordinary understanding of the finer nuances of music, and a brilliant creativity that enabled him to be an outstanding artist in ways more than one.

“Nai Imaarat”(1981) though a recent movie by the standards of this blog is an obscure movie. Even I have not heard of this movie though I was into watching Hindi movies with a vengeance at that time.

” Ye chand ye sitaare ye raat yaad rakhnaa” from film ” La’al-e-Yaman ” (1956) is the song no. 16 of the series. No songs from this movie are posted in the blog yet, but two songs from the 1933 movie of the same name are presented. This song is written by Kaifi Azmi and composed by AR Qureshi also known as Ustad Allah Rakkha. The recording is not really up to the mark and sounding older than the year of the film. The music is also sounding very period in this qawwali style composition.

“Joru Ka Bhai” (1955) was produced and directed by Chetan Anand for Mahshakti Films, Bombay. The movie had Balraj Sahni, Sheela Ramani, Johnny Walker, Rasheed Khan, Praveen Pal, Kumkum, Radhika, Vijay Anand etc. in it. This is the eighth song out of ten from the movie. (The remaining two songs are the two parts of a song with same ‘mukhada’, “Baat Meri Maan Le”.) Kishore and S Balbir are singing this in typical Kishore’s humorous style. They start the song with religious color but soon shift to the more popular subject, that is ‘ishq’. Vishwamitra Adil wrote the lyrics for this song.
