“Pagdandi”(1947) was directed by Ram Narayan Dave for Pancholi Art. The movie had Padma, Akhtar, Gyaani, Om Prakash, Akhtari etc in it.

Four songs from the movie has been discussed in the past.

Here is the fifth song from “Pagdandi”(1947) to appear in the blog. HFGK is silent about the names of the singers for all songs of this movie. The uploader of this rare song on YT has mentioned Zeenat Begam as the singer of this song.

D N Madhok is the lyricist. Though Khursheed Anwar was the music director of this movie, but this song was composed by Pt Amarnath. This is as per the comment of Khwaja Irfan Anwar on YT, a relative of Khursheed Anwar.

Only the audio of this song is available. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on the picturisation of this song.

tum jug jug jiyo jahaan me maa ke jaaye
bhagwaan umariya meree tumhen lagaaye

birhan maa ke dil se niklegee haaye
bhagwaan umariya meree tumhen lagaaye
tum jug jug jiyo jahaan mein maa ke jaaye

mere janam janam ke sukh tumko mil jaaye
mere janam janam ke sukh tumko mil jaaye

yeh phool sada phoole
kabhee naa murajhaaye
bhagwaan umariya meree tumhe lagaaye
tum jug jug jiyo jahaan mein maa ke jaaye

Two days back on the occasion of Yusuf Khan’s (Dilip Kumar to all of us) Atul had said and I quote

“when I decided to find Dilip Kumar songs to discuss, I realised that almost all the Dilip Kumar movies have already been painted orange, viz all the songs of these movies have already been discussed in the past. There are a few Dilip Kumar movies where a few songs are not yet discussed, but these songs are picturised on actors other than Dilip Kumar.”
