Bombay Gangout – Part 5
The Day After.
The next day to the gangout meeting, we had plans for a visit to our dear Arun ji. As the readers may be aware, Arun ji had not attended the gangout meeting. The personal family circumstances in the recent past, had been exigent to the extreme. His life partner had passed away just 10 days prior to the scheduled meeting. A wonderful “searching-for-a-lost-one” song. The movie is Chaalis Din (1959) with a reasonably good set of actors, i.e. Premnath, Shakeela, Nishi, KN Singh, Maruti, Shammi, Chaman Puri, Kuckoo etc. This particular song is picturized on Shakeela as the main singer on screen, supported by Shammi and Maruti. Maruti looks very different and somber, unlike his comical sidekick roles that he has played in many movies of Dara Singh, Sheikh Mukhtar etc.

on:In the early 1970s, when I was growing as a pre teen kid, I used to listen to Hindi movie songs and I longed to watch the movies containg these songs. The movies that I wold have dearly loved to see those days, since I loved their songs, were “Seeta Aur Geeta” (1972) and “Victoria No. 203” (1972). But unfortunately I could never see these two movies at that time. That remains a big regret of my life to this day.
