Hullo Atuldom
A few songs are playing in my head since morning.
1) Rimjhim gire saawan(Manzil)(1979)
2) Bheegi bheegi raaton mein (Ajnabi)
3) Tere mere pyaar ki jo baat chali (Aankh Michauli)
4) Aaj rapat jaayen to hamen na uthhaiyyo (Namak Halal)
5) Ab ke saawan mein jee darey (Jaise Ko Taisa)
No prizes for guessing the connection between these songs- they are all Rain songs. And why was I thinking of these songs? Giving the answer as “Rainy Season or Monsoon” (and India is having a fairly good monsoon I must say) doesn’t bring out the romance associated with these songs. But if we say that it is the month of “Saawan or Shravan” then the rains and the ‘jhoolas’ and all traditionally romantic Indian aspects play in our mind’s eye. As I set out to hear and see the above listed songs I also ended up hearing this less heard (unheard should be the correct word here) song “Jhoom jhoom naach rahi barkha bahaar hai (Duniya Kya Jaane)“. Then I went on to listen to a few ‘post Rain’ songs like ‘Ek ladki bheegee bhaagee si (Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi)‘, ‘Roop tera mastaana (Aradhana)‘.
The trigger for the listening session was the program on Radio Ceylon this morning which gave me this rimjhim-gire-saawan-sulag-sulag-jaaye-man/ (in its one and half hour program). Of course radio Ceylon didn’t play the song as a ‘Rain Song’ but as a Kishore Kumar song. Why? Because today is KISHORE KUMAR’s birth anniversary. He would have been 93.
Almost all online HFM sharing portals and apps are putting out playlists which promise the listener hours of song listening pleasure. We at ASAD are a lot that is not satisfied with the regular lists, correct? No, NO. Don’t get me wrong. We are not upset when someone plays a song from ‘Jhumroo’, ‘Jewel Thief’, Blackmail’, ‘Manzil’, ‘Amar Prem’, ‘Rampur Ka Laxman’, ‘Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi’. ‘Lal Patthar’, etc. etc. Atulites don’t complain at the content present in the preset playlists anyone offers, we just go and make our own lists and from these we post songs that are great on the ears and not yet present on the blog.
Of course today I did hear a FUN- Kishore Kumar song which I haven’t heard before. It was from the 1968 release ‘Shrimaanji’ and it had lot of fun elements in it- the lyrics, the tune and accompanying sounds that Kishoreda excelled in. This is the song Iss duniyaa mein pyaare do kaam karnaa (Shrimaanji) .
I also heard one song that I had forgotten, Aansuon ko thhaam le (Chhotaa Baap).
What I am trying to show by posting the links to the songs which I heard today is that this blog has covered songs by Kishoreda in all his moods – many rare songs which were popular once upon a time but now forgotten are also there in this blog.
I was looking at the statistics page of the blog and found that the blog has 1283 songs of Kishoreda as singer, 33 as music director and 6 as lyricist. Looking up the stats is a fun job and here are some more numbers:-
144 songs of Kishoreda for Rajesh Khanna.
590 solo songs
21 duets with Shamshad Begum
13 duets with Geeta Dutt
19 duets with Mohd Rafi
only 1 duet with Mukesh
7 duets with Mannada songs
6 duets with Mahendra Kapoor songs
Here are some expected numbers:- 218 duets with Lata Mangeshkar and 263 with Asha Bhonsle.
The above are the numbers present on the blog and not what Kishoreda accomplished in his career. I would have loved to do a similar exercise of Kishoreda’s collaboration with lyricists and music directors to see the numbers that we have on the blog, maybe next time.
I have a whole set of songs in my mind across various genres and moods. I am settling for a song from a fun movie. The movie had Kishore Kumar as the producer, director, actor, music director, and singer. The cast had Amit Kumar, Yogita Bali, Mehmood, S.N. Banerjee, Jayshree T., Madan Puri, Bhagwan, and a host of supporting actors. It could possibly have been a launch vehicle for Amit Kumar as an actor and south Indian actress Jaya Sudha made her Hindi debut with this film- ‘Shabash Daddy’ (1979)
The other singers used in the movie were Amit Kumar, Asha Bhonsle, Sulakshana Pandit, and Mehmood. Irshad Jalili and Gulshan Bawra were two other lyricists of the movie.
I remember having seen it on release all those years ago in 1979 but don’t find it anywhere for repeat viewing. It was the story of a retired army officer Col. Chhaju Singh (Kishore Kumar) who falls in love with a beautiful fisher-woman when he has a son of marriageable age. There were a lot of comments back then that this was their family life playing out on screen as Kishore Kumar had just married Yogita Bali.
I am sure many purists will feel that today’s song shows Kishoreda grossly overacting. And not doing justice to the talent that he was. But that is the way he was – mostly too good and gross at times.
Thinking of the multi-talented highly energetic entertainer with this song written, composed and sung by Kishore Kumar. I feel that the female voice accompanying is of Yogita Bali (I may be wrong)

#The Decade of Seventies – 1971 – 1980 #
—————————————————
# Bhoole-Bisre Geet # 154 # Year -1971#
———————————————–————————
Finally, the year ‘2021’ has become a past now and with that the ‘year 1971’ has become fifty years old too. That is how time flies.
We had been celebrating ‘fifty years’ of the year ‘1971’ and have looked on the movies released in 1971 in earlier posts given below.
- Man ke korey kaaghaz pe tasveer kheench lo Ram ki
- Mujhe neend aa gayi thhi
- Ye meri balaa jaane kitne hain yahaan gham
In the above posts we have seen the details of movies released from January-April’1971, then May-August’1971 and finally the details of movies released from September-December’1971 respectively in these three posts.
The following movies from 1971 which do not have the details of ‘date of passing by censor board’ didn’t find a mention in above posts and so was the case for the movies ‘un-released’ (which are considered from this year 1971).
However, there is one movie ‘Bombay Talkie’ of which the ‘censor certificate date’ is mentioned in HFGK but it features in the list of movies unreleased.
Movie Title | Director | Music Director |
Ek Naari Ek Brahmachaari | KP Atma | Shankar-Jaikishan |
Hangaamaa | SM Abbas | RD Burman |
Jai Jawaan Jai Makaan | Vishram Bedekar | Bhaskar M Chandavarkar |
Kabhi Dhoop Kabhi Chhaaon | Chandrakant | Chitragupt |
Murder In Circus | A. Salam | Usha Khanna |

Bombay Talkie (UR? /19.02.1971) | Shankar-Jaikishan
Jai Jawaan Jai Kisaan (UR) | AA Raj
Murder On Highway (UR) | C. Arjun |
The above movies are those which have already been represented on the blog and some of them have been Yippeee’d too or covered with all the songs in the respective movies.
Three movies viz. ‘Agent 999’* (aka ‘C.I.D. Agent 999’*, ‘Operation Jackpot’), ‘Nanhi Kaliyaan’ and ‘Revolver Rani’ have yet to make a debut on the blog. As of now, the songs from these movies seem to be not available.
So, given below is the full list of the movies from 1971.

(Note– more movies (from un-released) can get included in the year 1971 if their date of passing or releasing is noticed, and it is from this year 1971).
Today we listen a song from the movie ‘Kal Aaj Aur Kal’ and say Yippeee to this movie on the blog.
Following is the details of the songs of this movie as mentioned in HFGK Vol-V (1971-1980).
S.No. | Song Title | Singer/s | Lyricist | Posted On |

Today’s song is sung by Asha Bhonsle and Kishore Kumar, and I consider this song as a well-known song, because it was frequently heard in those years. I vaguely remember, in my childhood days, seniors in the family would tease each-other by singing this song or remembering this song as an expression of loving each other longer.
The song is
ham jab honge ae saatth saal ke ae aur tum hogi pachpan ki
bolo preet nibhaaogi naa tab bhi apne bachpan ki
I was thinking to post this song on the new year day, considering that it would be suitable for those who reached their ‘sixties’ in this year and their spouses are of fifty-five years old. At least if not a ‘resolution type’ song, this song serves as a ‘promise to keep song’ for continuing to love each other even when both partners grow older and older, with the passing of each year. And particularly when they are of ‘sixty’ and ‘fifty-five’ respectively. (Now-a-days it can be vice versa also 🙂 )
This song also reminded me the qawwali “Badaa Lutf Thha Jab Kunwaare Thhe Hum Tum” shared by me and posted on 02.01.2016 on the blog. This qawwali song is telling about the joy of youth and youthful days, or simply the joy of bachelorhood before getting married and the life after marriage.
As mentioned above today’s song is sung by Asha Bhonsle and Kishore Kumar and on screen it is lip-synced by the beautiful Babita and Randhir Kapoor respectively.
With today’s song this movie ‘Kal Aaj Aur Kal’ has all its songs covered on the blog and this movie now joins the ‘list of movies – all songs covered’. The movie started its journey on 15.09.2010 on the blog and ends it today.
Let us now enjoy today’s song …

Song – Hum Jab Honge Saatth Saal Ke (Kal Aaj Aur Kal) (1971) Singer – Kishore Kumar, Asha Bhosle, Lyrics – Shaily Shailendra, MD – Shankar Jaikishan
Lyrics
kya
hum jab honge ae
saatth saal ke ae
aur tum hogi pachpan ki
bolo preet nibhaaogi naa
tab bhi apne bachpan ki
kya kya
kya
(Coughing sound)
hum jab honge saatth saal ke
aur tum hogi pachpan ki
bolo preet nibhaaogi naa
tab bhi apne bachpan ki
hum jab honge saatth saal ke
aur tum hogi pachpan ki
bolo preet nibhaaogi naa
tab bhi apne bachpan ki
tum jab honge saatth saal ke
aur main hoongi pachpan ki
preet ki jyot jalaaungi main
tab bhi apne bachpan ki
haan baahon ka sahaara ho jab
lakdi kyon hum tekenge
aankh bhale dhundhli ho jaayen
dil ki nazar se dekhenge ae
haan baahon ka sahaara ho jab
lakdi kyon hum tekenge
aankh bhale dhundhli ho jaayen
dil ki nazar se dekhenge
aankhon mein tum yoonhi dekhna
aankhon mein tum yoonhi dekhna
kya hai zaroorat darpan ki
bolo preet nibhaaogi naa
tab bhi apne bachpan ki
tum jab honge saatth saal ke
aur main hoongi pachpan ki
preet ki jyot jalaaungi main
tab bhi apne bachpan ki
roop ki ye mastaani dhoop
ik din to dhal jaayegi
aur kismat bhi chehre pe ae
samay ka rang mal jaayegi
haan aa roop ki ye mastaani dhoop
ik din to dhal jaayegi
aur kismat bhi chehre pe ae
samay ka rang mal jaayegi
tum tab kahin badal naa jaana
tum tab kahin badal naa jaana
qasam tumhe is dhadkan ki
bolo preet nibhaaoge naa
tab bhi apne bachpan ki
haan aa thhandi mein tum
sweater bun’naa
hum lakdi chun laayenge
bachchon ke sang bachche ban kar
hum donon tutlaayenge
(Laughing sound in female voice)
haan aa thhandi mein tum
sweater bun’naa
hum lakdi chun laayenge
bachchon ke sang bachche ban kar
hum dono tutlaayenge
miljul kar hum saath rahenge
miljul kar hum saath rahenge
baat na hogi an-ban ki
bolo preet nibhaaogi naa
tab bhi apne bachpan ki ee
tum jab honge saatth saal ke
aur main hoongi pachpan ki
preet ki jyot jalaaungi main
tab bhi apne bachpan ki
huyi huyi huyi
hum jab honge saatth saal ke
aur tum hogi pachpan ki
bolo preet nibhaaogi naa
tab bhi apne bachpan ki

Hullo atuldom
Many times I find a celebrity’s birthday and then look for a song featuring him/ her. Then, there are times when I see or hear a song and look for the birth-dates or anniversaries of those related with that song. In both the scenarios the post is nearly ready due to readily available songs. There is a third scenario where when I visit the birth-dates/ anniversary page of our blog and I see a birthday of an artiste, whose work I like, coming up, I rush to look for possible songs and find it difficult to zero in on anyone because there are too may options. So to make selection easy, I make things more complicated by trying to find debut songs of the person, adding a condition that the person should be seen lip-syncing and if he/she is dancing in the song or at-least shaking a leg that would be a BONUS.
So today we are celebrating the 70th birthday of an actor who made un-credited appearances in ‘Aman’ (1967) and ‘Aan Baan’ (1972). Shyam Benegal was the one who first cast him as Vishwam in ‘Nishant’ in 1975 and there began his journey in the parallel cinema of the Indian Film industry. His foray into commercial cinema came about when he played one of the Pandavs in ‘Hum Paanch’ (1980) which was not a mythological movie but a movie with a social message. From then on, he has straddled cinema of various genres and been successful enough to last till today. He has given memorable performances and has been a recipient of the National Award and Filmfare award for the best actor three times. Additionally he has been awarded the Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan.
Initially we saw him as a costar to Shabana Azmi and Smita Patil. Then with ‘Katha’ (1982) Deepti Naval became his heroine and his movies could be said to have become commercially viable when we saw him with Rekha in two movies – ‘Umrao Jaan’ (1981) and ‘Ijaazat’ (1987). I think he did one more movie with Rekha I can’t recollect. Here I am not talking of Rekha movies where this actor played negative characters meaning played a villain (being the right term). Oh yes, this actor has played villain and hero in traditionally masala films. Just goes to show how versatile he is.
I am sure the readers have guessed that I am talking of Naseeruddin Shah. I loved what Sudhirji wrote in his post for the song “Kisi Na Kisi Se Kabhi Na Kabhi (Medley)” last year on the same occasion. I think we should revisit it.
For today let us see him sing and dance with Mithun Chakravarty and Yogita Bali. So “Oye oye. . . Tirchi Topiwaale” was not the first time he tried to dance. Here he has played Mithun’s friend and Yogeeta’s brother. The song is from the romantic thriller ‘Khwaab’ (1980) which was directed by Shakti Samanta. It had songs written and composed by Ravindra Jain. Today’s song is sung by Jaspal Singh, Suresh Wadkar and Hemlata. The story of the movie is present in the only song of the movie that has been posted in the monsoon of 2015 – “Tu Hi Wo Haseen Hai“.
Happy Birthday to Naseeruddin Shah – stay healthy and may we have more from you.

ooo hohohoooooho
ooo hoho hoooo ho
aaa aaaaa
(ooo hoho hoooo ho)
aaa aaaaa
(ooo hoho hoooo ho)
ek aas liye
vishwas liye
mera mann manzil ke nishaan dhoondhe
ek aas liye
vishwas liye
mera mann manzil ke nishaan dhoondhe
jisey aas na ho
jisey aas na ho
vishwas na ho
wo kya dhoondhe kahaan dhoondhe
ek aas liye
vishwas liye
mera mann manzil ke nishaan dhoondhe
ahaa ahaa haa lalala laa
ohohoho oooo
ahaa ahaa haa lalala laa
ohohoho oooo
dharti se aasman tak
manzilon ke silsile
wo kya karey jisey manzil
mil ke bhi na miley
yun bhi hota hai jeewan mein
rehta chhupa mann mein
mere saathi
mil jaata hai wo bina dhoondhe
ek aas liye
vishwas liye
mera mann manzil ke nishaan dhoondhe
sapna ho jin mein koi
soti nahin hain woh aankhen
saathi adhure sapne
meri bhi aankhon mein jhaanken
har sukh se juda dukh hai
dukh ka apna sukh hai
mere saathi
sab kuch na miley yahaan dhoondhe
ek aas liye
vishwas liye
mera mann manzil ke nishaan dhoondhe
ahaa ahaa haa lalala laa
ohohoho oooo
nit bhor ki ye laali
deti sandesha zindagi ka
jis ne andhere kaate
hoga savera bhi usi ka
koi meet sahara de to
jeene ka ishaara de to
mere sathi
wahin manzil tu jahaan dhoondhe
ek aas liye
vishwas liye
mera man manzil ke nishaan dhoondhe
mera man manzil ke nishaan dhoondhe
mera man manzil ke nishaan dhoondhe

Hullo Atuldom
Continuing from last year, next song from “Doosra Aadmi”.
Movie made a debut on this blog with kya mausam hai , the most popular song. The next song to be posted was maathe pe lagaaike bindiya.
aao manaayen jashn e muhabbat was posted last year on this date to remember Majrooh Sultanpuri on his anniversary and also to wish Rajesh Roshan on his birthday.
This not-so-popular movie of the Rishi Kapoor -Neetu Singh jodi is rather slow moving on our blog as can be seen from the fact that after two songs in 2008 the next appeared in 2019. It had six songs here is the fourth today for the same purpose as last year – remembering Majroohsaab and wishing Rajesh Roshan a happy birthday.
We, the regular HFM fans, know that the movie had Shashi Kapoor in a guest role and Rakhee, Neetu Singh and Rishi Kapoor were part of the love quadrangle tha formed the basis of the movie. I say quadrangle because when Rakhee sees Rishi for the first time (in the movie) she feels that her dead fiance (Shashi Kapoor) is back. At the same time a married Rishi Kapoor takes a liking to Rakhee and her independent way of living which has adverse effects on his family life. Deven Verma and Parikshit Shani played important characters in the movie.
Today we have the typical roothna-manana song sung by Kishore Kumar and Pamela Chopra. The song teaches that it takes a few stanzas by the best songwriter to pacify a upset/angry lover or wife. And she may also join you in singing a few lines towards the end of the song. I don’t think this formula works in real-life.

Several years ago, I read a tale that made my blood boil. It was about a 96 year old lady, whose palatial house was snatched away forcibly from her by greedy land grabbers and she was forced to stay in the servant quarters of her own prime property. She was no ordinary lady either. she was the first female IAS officer of India.
When media got wind of this fact, the people who had usurped her property hurriedly brought her back to the mansion to “prove” to the media that she was very much the “owner” of her property.
Law abiding people earn some amount for their living and then try to live within them. Then there are some ambitious people who work hard and improve their earning and rise in economic status. They still live within their earning.

Today’s song is from the film Mast Qalandar-55. It is sung by Shamshad Begum, Rafi and Master Sonik alongwith chorus. The mukhada of the song ” Mast qalandar dama dam” is quite a misleading one, as it has nothing to do with famous Punjabi/Sindhi qawali Dama dam mast qalandar. The phrase has been used here to describe a carefree man. This seems to be a street dance, sung to entertain the onlookers.
