“Baaraat”(1960) was produced and directed by K Amarnath for K Amarnath Productions, Bombay. This “social” movie had Ajit, Shakila, Mukri, Salim, Protima Devi, Murad, Shalini, Brahm Bhardwaj, Gulnar, Pandey, Amrit Rana, Ravikant, Sheila Kashmiri, Sajjan etc in it.

The movie had eight songs in it. Three of these songs have been covered in the past.

Here is the fourth song from “Baaraat”(1960) to appear in the blog. The song is sung by Lata and chorus. Majrooh Sultanpuri is the lyricist. Music is composed by Chitragupta.

The song is picturised as a “aankh michauli” cum “sahelis teasing a lady” genre of song on Shakila and her sahelis, with Ajit also visible in the picturisation.

Song-Pakdi gayi pakdi gayi lo gori ki chori pakdi gayi (Baaraat)(1960) Singer-Lata, Lyrics-Majrooh Sultanpuri, MD-Chitragupta
Chorus

Lyrics

o o o o
o o o
o o o
aa aa aa aa
aa aa aa aa
pakdi gayi pakdi gayi
lo gori ki chori pakdi gayi
pakdi gayi pakdi gayi
lo goori ki chori pakdi gayi

moondi moondi ankhiyaan
chala nahin jaaye
ae ji mohe chhedo na
mar gayi main to haaye
haaye pakdi gayi pakdi gayi
lo gori ki chori pakdi gayi

moondi moondi ankhiyaan
chala nahin jaaye
ae ji mohe chhedo na
mar gayi main to haaye
haaye

aankh chadha ke patti zaalim
haaye bajaaye taali
charsau beesi karke mujhse
mere hi sar daali
aankh chadha ke patti zaalim
haye bajaaye taali
chaar sau beesi karke mujhse
mere hi sar daali

par humne bhi chhoda pakad ke
chor
pakdi gayi pakdi gayi
lo gori ki chori pakdi gayi

moondi moondi ankhiya chala nahi jaye
ae ji mohe chhedo na
mar gayi main to haaye
haaye

bol rahi punjab ki chhori
sun le har koi banda
toot nahin sakta
ye lambi zulfon ka hai phanda
bol rahi punjab ki chhori
sunle har koi banda
toot nahin sakta
ye lambi zulfon ka hai phanda

jaane aayega kaise idhar se
chor

khet ke kone kone par hai nainon ki rakhwaali
jhoom rahi thhi main to jaise baajre ki baali
khet ke kone kone par hai nainon ki rakhwaali
jhoom rahi thhi main to jaise baajre ki baali

daiyya kheton mein aaya kidhar se
chor
pakdi gayi pakdi gayi
lo gori ki chori pakdi gayi

moondi moondi ankhiyaan chala nahin jaaye
ae ji mohe chhedo na
mar gayi main to haaye
haaye haaye chor
