Today’s song is from another lesser-known movie of 1972, it is ‘Pistolwaali’. This movie was directed by KSR Doss for PNR Pictures, Madras and produced by P. Nageswara Rao. The cast of actors includes Ramakrishna, Sathyanarayana, Prabhakara Reddy, Ramadas, Thyagaraj, Balakrishna, Vijayashri, Dhanasri, Surya Prabha, Helen, Jayshree T, and Jyothi Laxmi.

Dialogues of this movie were written by Mohan Kaul and Raj Joshi. Editing of this movie was done by Kandaswamy and Sivam was his associate. This movie had five songs, all were written by Mohanlal Kaul and music was composed by Sathyam. This movie was passed by Censor Board on 11.04.1972.

All the songs were sung by Asha Bhonsle only, although HFGK doesn’t mention the singer’s name against song nos. 2, 3 & 4 as per below given list. But the film’s titles mention the singer’s name as Asha Bhonsle only. The list of songs in this movie is as given below (as provided in HFGK).

Sl. No. Song Title
01 Kya Huaa , Kya Huaa Dil Ko, Bhole Se Mere Dil Ko
02 Haay Maa Ladi, Haay Maa Ladi, Aa Haa
03 Hogaa So Hogaa, Re Aisa Kyun Dekhtaa, Nahin Kyon Re Hanstaa
04 Hey Udti-Si Gudiyaa, Pasand Kya Tumko Mere Raaja
05 Kaisaa Ha Gham, Tere Saath Hamdam, Dekho Kahaan Hoon Main

Today’s song is sung by Asha Bhonsle, and I guess it is performed on the screen by Jyothi Laxmi. Lyrics are by Mohanlal Kaul and music is composed by Satyam.

With this song the movie ‘Pistolwaali’ makes its debut on the blog. This movie is the ninetieth (90th) movie of the year 1972 alphabetically. Let us have a look on the list of movies of 1972 alphabetically after adding this movie. For brevity the list given below includes the list of movies missing on the blog and list of all movies from the last post in this series – “Tan Bhi Jaley, Man Bhi Jaley” from movie ‘Parivartan’, to today’s movie song-post.

*Notes:

  1. Songs for ‘Bachche Mere Saathi’, ‘Gunfighter Johnny’, ‘Hunterwaali’, ‘Lady James Bond’ and ‘Miss Chaalbaaz’ (Tingoo Agent 000) seem to be unavailable as of now.
  2. There is no information about the songs in HFGK Vol-V (1971-1980) for the movies – ‘Aakraant’, ‘Bharat Darshan’, ‘Fighter Sheela’, ‘Jaadoo Nagari’ and ‘Maaya Darpan’ as mentioned above.

From the Geet Kosh, I note that in total there are five movies directed by KSR Das, as per following details. I guess that all movies except ‘Raani Mera Naam’ are movies dubbed in Hindi from South. I would request knowledgeable readers to throw more light on these movies.

I have heard this song many a times but I was not aware of its details till recently. It is only just now that I have come to know that this song is from “Saawan Ki Ghata” (1966). The song is sung by Asha Bhonsle. The music is composed by O P Nayyar.

I could call it a bathroom song, because the lady is actually taking bath in this song. But the technical problem is, she is taking bath not inside the bathroom, but in the open, and some people may say she is actually swimming. But more like she is frolicking in water to her heart’s content. So I have decided to call it a waterfall song instead.
