2553 Iss duniyaa mein pyaare do kaam karnaa Debut on this date exactly ten years ago
2573 Pehloo mein yaar ho to kis baat ki kami hai
12981 Arre bhai shrimaanji

As can be observed, “Shrimaanjee”(1968) made its debut on this ten years ago. Today offers us an opportunity of “Blog Ten Year Challenge” for this movie. Prakashchandra has sent me lyrics of all the three remaining songs from the movie.

Today, I have chosen a song that is sung by Asha Bhonsle and Kamal Barot. S H Bihari is the lyricist. Music is composed by O P Nayyar.

The picturisation is a comical Wedding dance song in drags. A fake wedding is taking place and a wedding ceremony dance song is performed, purportedly by two female dancers. One can see that one of the “female” dancer is I S Johar. 🙂 The other dancer is Meena Roy (I guess). The married couple are also fake, with a male playing the dulhan. I request our knowledgeable readers to help identify them.

“Jung Aur Aman”(1968) was directed by Nanabhai Bhatt for Beauty Films, Bombay. This “costume” drama movie, a euphemism for a B grade movie, had Dara Singh, Mumtaz, Jayant, Murad, Krishna Kumari, Rajan Haksar, Sujata, Sushma, Indmohan, Laxmi Chhaaya, Noorjahaan, Kesri, Moolchand, Mohan Choti, Nadira etc in it.

The movie had five songs in it. Four of them were solo songs and one a female duet. Two of these songs have been overed in the past.

Here is the third song from “Jung Aur Aman”(1968) to appear in the blog. This song is a female duet and it is sung by two less known female playback singers viz Krishna Kalle and Pathare. I am not aware who Pathare is. She makes her debut as a playback singer with this song, unless we know her by another name. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on her.

The movie has three synchronised dance songs sung in raj darbaar. This song is on such song. I am unable to identify the two dancers. I request our knowledgeable readers to help identify them.

I am unable to distinguish the two female voices as well and that is why I have not bothered to provide colour coding in this song. In any case, Pathare appears to sing only in chorus and not alone, as far as I can tell.

Hasrat Jaipuri is the lyricist. Music is composed by G S Kohli.

Song-Hans kar sharaarat karna na (Jung Aur Aman)(1968) Singer-Krishna Kalle, Pathare, Lyrics-Hasrat Jaipuri, MD-G S Kohli

“Baazi”(1968), not to be confused with the well known “Baazi”(1951) was directed by Moni Bhattacharya for Golden Films Production, Bombay. The movie had Dharmendra, Waheeda Rehman, Johnny Walker, Mehmood, Helen, Ansari, Nazir Hussain, Ullhas, Chans Usmani, Amar, Manmohan, Keshto Mukherjee, Pinchoo Kapoor etc in it.

The movie had five songs in it. Four songs have been covered in the past.

Here are the details of the songs already covered in the blog:-

S N Song Song number in blog Date of posting
1 Aa mere galey lag jaa o jaane jaana 7860 9-Apr-2013
2 Pyaar ki ye baaten hamko na samjhaao 7949 21-Apr-2013
2 Ek anaar do beemaar badi mushqil hai 15143 29-July-2019
2 Dil tootaa roye nainaa 15440 17-Feb-2020

Here is the fifth and final song from “Baazi”(1968). This song is sung by Asha Bhonsle and Lata Mangeshkar. Shakeel Badayuni is the lyricist. Music is composed by Kalyanji Anandji.

This song is quite a remarkable song. It is picturised as a stage performance song on Helen and Waheeda Rehman. Helen plays evil queen and Waheeda Rehman her daughter. The evil queen regards herself as the prettiest female around and she would not hesitate to get prettier females killed, even if she happens to be her own daughter.

This is a very long song, more than ten minutes long. The picturisation also shows several small time actors as well.

I think that this song must be one of a kind for lyricist Shakeel Badayuni too. This must be one of the very few Helen dance songs for him.

Lata Mangeshkar had sung five female duets in the movies of 1968. Four of these duets are already covered in the blog. So, with this song, all the five female duets of Lata Mangeshkar from movies of 1968 are covered.

With this song, “Baazi”(1968) joins movies that have all their songs covered in the blog and the movie thus gets YIPPEED.

Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Avinash Scrapwala.

“Khilaadi”(1968) was directed by Homi Wadia for Basant Pictures Bombay. This “social” movie had Nadia, Dilip Raj, Uma Bhende, Sujata, Sheikh, Suzie, Amarnath, Wazir Mohammad Khan, Vishwas Kunte, Uma Dutt, Dalpat, Habib etc in it.

The movie had five songs in it. Two songs have been covered in the past.

Here is the third song from “Khilaadi”(1968) to appear in the blog. This song is sung by Asha Bhonsle. Farooque Kaiser is the lyricist. Music is composed by Lala Sattar.

The song is picturised as a seduction song on an actress who I think is Uma Bhende. I request our knowledgeable readers to help confirm/ refute my identification. The actress as well as the gentleman playing the centre of her attention appear ill suited for the roles they were entrusted to play in the song.

PS-Prakashchandra, our inhouse expert advises that the actress is Sujata seducing Dilip Raj.

Song-Sun zara jaane jahaan (Khilaadi)(1968) Singer-Asha Bhonsle, Lyrics-Farooque Kaiser, MD-Lala Sattar

Lyrics

sun zara
jaane jahaan
sun zara

“Aanchal Ke Phool”(1968) was directed by Karunesh Thakur for MRS Film production, Bombay. The movie had Sajjan, Kamini Kaushal, Jeevan, Chand Usmani, Sunder, Mohan Choti,Namrata, Jayant, Ulhas, Jagdish Raj etc. in it.

This movie was so dull and boring that it flopped badly at the box office. Little information was available on this movie. Our beloved inhouse encyclopeadia Mr Arunkumar Deshmukh had watched the movie during that time. Here is what he has to say about this movie:

It was a MRS Film production, directed by Karunesh Thakur, with music from Ved Sethi.

Ved Sethi is a Punjabi Music Director and the above film seems to be the only film in Hindi for which he gave music. There are only 4 songs in the movie.

The cast consisted of Sajjan and Kamini Kaushal as the lead pair, supported by Jeevan, Chand Usmani, Sunder, Mohan Choti, Namrata, Jayant, Ulhas, Jagdish Raj etc.

The story is Shankar(Sajjan) is a Mill worker in Bombay and stays with his 5 sons and a daughter. When he gets his 7th child, his childless neighbours Sunderlal(Sunder) and Ranu(Chand Usmani) volunteer to adopt the new born, but Shanker and Maya(K.K.) refuse. The expenses of the delivery are so much that when his only daughter Radha(Baby Poonam) ij injured in her leg, he has to go to the charitable hospital. When he learns that her leg has to be amputed, he is devastated and abandones the daughter and tells his wife that Radha has died.
The entire story is a boring, lengthy tear jerker which tries to emphasise that children are God’s gifts etc…..

The movie had four songs in it. Three songs have been covered in the blog.

Here are the details of these three songs :

S N Song Song number in blog Date of posting
1 Ek nanhi si kali roye daali ke liye 4788 12-Oct-2011
2 More man mein hai kaisi chubhan haay raam kaa se kahoon 14920 12-Mar-2019
3 Soyi hai dulhan raat ki 15418 3-Feb-2020

Here is the fourth and final song from “Aanchal Ke Phool”(1968). This song is sung by Manna Dey. Naqsh Llayalpuri is the lyricist. Music is composed by Ved Sethi. The melancholic song plays in the baackground while we watch Kamini Kaushal, Sajjan and their children suffering and marking the movie going public suffer with them.

With this song, all the songs of “Aanchal Ke Phool”(1968)are covered in the blog. With this remonstrating with the Almighty genre of song, “Aanchal Ke Phool”(1968) joins the list of movies that have been YIPPEED in the blog.

Song-Jaago brij ke vaasi (Aanchal Ke Phool)(1968) Singer-Manna Dey, Lyrics-Naqsh Llayalpuri, MD-Ved Sethi

Lyrics

ravi kirnen prithvi ko choomen
le tumhro hi naa aam
jaago brij ke vaasi
jaago ghanshyaa aam
jaago o o o o o o

“Teen Bahuraaniyaan”(1968) was directed by S S Wasan and S S Balan for Gemini Combines, Madras. The movie had Dhumal, Prithviraj Kapoor, Rajendranath, Shashikala, Jankidas, Kanchana, Agha, Kanhaiyalal, Vaishali, Niranjan Sharma, Farida, Jayanthi, Lalita Pawar, Ramesh Deo, Jagdeep etc in it.

As can be expected, this was a Madrasi Chandamama kind of story where a combined family consisting of three songs, their daughters and children live together happily and peacefully alongwith the parents. 🙂 It was called a “social” movie. One may as well call it a fantasy fairytaled movie. 🙂

The movie had five songs in it. Two songs have been covered in the past.

Here is the third song from “Teen Bahuraaniyaan”(1968) to appear in the blog. The song is picturised on the three ladies playing the three daughter’s in law. The song is sung by three Mangeskhar sisdters, viz Lata, Asha Bhonsle and Usha Mangeshkar. This is one of those special cases when three sisters have figures in a song.

Anand Bakshi is the lyricist. Music is composed by Kalyanji Anandji. Lyrics for this song are provided by Nitin ji.

I request our knowledgeable readers to help identify the actors seen in the picturisation.

PS-Our knowledgeable reader Dr Subramanian S informs us that the three actresses seen in the picturisation are Sowkar Janaki, Kanchana and Jayanti.

Blog Day : 4201 Post No. : 15386

I wonder if regulars of this blog notice the contents of the box that appears at the beginning of each writeup. It shows the day number of the blog as well as the post number. In case the movie makes its debut with the song then the movie number of this movie in the blog is also mentioned.

Yesterday (17 january 2020) was the 4200th day for the blog. It would seem that this occasion (described by me as artificial landmark 🙂 ) passed off unnoticed.

I began to take notice of this kind of century sometime in 2017. From then onwards I have been noticing it regularly. Noticing this event has been made easier because the day number accompanies each post now a days. this practice was started from 1 january 2018 at the initiative of Sudhir Jee and it has become a regular practice since then.

At the end of 4200th day, the blog had 15385 writeups ! It means that the blog has been going on at an average of 3.66 posts a day for last 4200 days, beginning from 19 july 2008 (day ONE).

At some time in the past, the blog was going on at 4.66 posts in a day !

Out of these 4200 days, there were 223 days when there were no posts. We describe such days as DOT days for the blog, like how there are DOT balls in cricket. Apart from these DOT days, all other days have seen at least ONE post, and often many more. During the more productive days of the blog (2010 to 2013) The highest number of posts in a day has been THIRTEEN !

Here is the breakup of these 4200 days.

Songs in a day Number of occurrences Remarks
NIL Songs posted in a day 223 61 Dot days in 2010

Six Songs posted in a day 681 166 such occurrences in 2009
Seven Songs posted in a day 278 56 such occurrences in 2013
Eight Songs posted in a day 119 39 such occurrences in 2012
Nine Songs posted in a day 42 18 such occurrences in 2012
Ten Songs posted in a day 18 8 such occurrences in 2012
Eleven Songs posted in a day 1 1 such occurrence in 16 august 2012
Twelve Songs posted in a day 6 4 such occurrences in 2011
Thirteen Songs posted in a day 2 on 25 october 2011 and 6 september 2012

On this occasion, when the blog has just completed a special landmark, here is a landmark song. Like the landmark of 4200 days for the blog, this song too marks a special landmark in the history of HFM.

Before I reveal what is that special landmark, let us see the details of this song. This song is from “Paayal Ki Jhankaar”(1968). This movie was directed by M V Raman for Filmistan. The movie had Kishore Kumar, Jyoti Laxmi, Rajshree (South), Dhumal, Moppet Raja, Baby Farida, Master Shahid, P Kailash, Rajendra, Sulochana Chatterjee, Rehman etc in it.

The movie had six songs in it. One song has been covered in the blog.

One song from the movie was penned by Qamar Jalalabadi and the remaining five songs were penned by Rajinder Krishan. Rajinder Krishan had also written the story, screenplay and dialogue of this movie.

This movie had music by C Ramchandra. It was the 33rd and last movie when Rajinder Krishan and C Ramchandra came together to create songs in HFM. They came together for the first time in 1949 when they created some magical numbers in “Patanga”. Later, they worked together in such musical blockbusters as “Samadhi”(1950), “Albela”(1951), “Anarkali”(1953), “Jhaanjhar”(1953), “Jhamela”(1953), “Pahli Jhalak”(1954), “Azaad”(1955), “Shatranj”(1956), “Asha”(1957), “Baarish”(1957), “Amardeep”(1958) etc.

All the 33 movies where C Ramchandra and Rajinder Krishan worked together, there were a few songs that were sung by Lata Mangeshkar.

This movie “Paayal Ki Jhankaar” (1968) had ONE song by Lata Mangeshkar. It was the last occasion when Lata Mangeshkar sang for C Ramchandra.

So one can say that “Paayal Ki Jhankaar”(1968) was the last time when Lata, Rajinder Krishan and C Ramchandra came together.

Here is this “special” song from “Paayal Ki Jhankaar”(1968). Lyrics for this song are provided by Nitin ji.

Only the audio of the song is available. I request our knowledgheable readers to throw light on the movie as well as on the picturisation of this song.

Song-Tu aaye na aaye magar jaanewaale (Paayal Ki Jhankaar)(1968) Singer-Lata, Lyrics-Rajinder Krishan, MD-C Ramchandra

Lyrics (Provided by Nitin Shah)

tu aaye na aaye
magar jaane waale
aaye na aaye
magar jaane waale
teri yaad aake rulaaya karegi
rulaaya karegi
jo dekhegi rota hai koi akela
dekhegi rota hai koi akela
to khud bhi wo aansu bahaaya karegi
bahaya karegi
aaye na aaye

jidhar se gaya tu wo raahen hamesha
jidhar se gaya tu wo raahen hamesha
tarasti rahengi teri vaapsi ko
tarasti rahengi teri vaapsi ko
udhar se hava bhi jo aaya karegi
udhar se hava bhi jo aaya karegi
tera naam leke sataaya karegi
sataaya karegi
tu aaye na aaye
magar jaane waale
aaye na aaye
magar jaane waale
teri yaad aake rulaaya karegi
rulaaya karegi
aaye na aaye

jo raaton ko taare poochhenge mujhse
raato ko taare poochhenge mujhse
bata tu bhi kyo raat bhar jaagti hai
bata tu bhi kyo raat bhar jaagti hai
kahoongi meri neend bas mein nahin hai
ye birhan bahaane banaya karegi
banaya karegi
aaye na aaye
magar jaane waale
aaye na aaye
magar jaane waale
teri yaad aake rulaaya karegi
rulaaya karegi
aaye na aaye

jahaan meri aankhon ka paani girega
jaha meri aankhon ka paani girega
teri yaad ke phool khilte rahenge
teri yaad ke phool khilte rahenge
savere savere jo aayegi shabnam
savere savere jo aayegi shabnam
to dil thhaam kar laut jaaya karegi
jaaya karegi
tu aaye na aaye
magar jaane waale
aaye na aaye
magar jaane waale
teri yaad aake rulaaya karegi
rulaaya karegi
aaye na aaye
