Congratulations to all the fellow wagoneers of this musical bandwagon. The journey completed 18 years yesterday, and today we step into the 19th year of this melodious and joyful voyage across the ocean of the Hindi film song. In these past 18 years, already we have notched up on the score card twenty thousand four hundred and sixty three memories – all wonderful and timeless creations of the masters and artists over the past nine plus decades. And looking forward – another day, another song, another melody – on the trek towards the horizon, where this ocean meets the sky. [Editor]

One hundred years ago today. One of the most revered persona of Hindi film music was born in Delhi. Today, we are celebrating his centenary birth anniversary. Once even he admitted in an interview, that his own preference is to sing songs of melancholy and sadness, rather than songs of light, comic or romantic mood. Of course romantic moods for him also meant ‘poignant’ for him. As is the song I am presenting in this post today.

In Hindi movies, there are songs for all occasions including songs meant to assuage the hurt feelings of the beloved. Now, how can one go about assuaging the hurt felings of one’s beloved ? The common and gentlemanly method is to say sorry. But then Hindi movie heroes (like Government employees) 🙂 can never see the errors of their ways and cannot say sorry. Even when they say sorry then do not mean it. In a railway station, one listens to the announcement saying ” The train is running late. We are sorry for the inconvenience”. The announcer hardly sounds sorry while making this announcement.
