“Do Dilon Ki Daastaan”(1966) was directed by Raj Khosla for Deep and Pradeep Productions, Bombay, the home production of Pradeep Kumar. The movie had Vyjyanti Mala, Pradeep Kumar, Om Prakash, Shashikala, Rehman, B Nandi, Jagdeep, Nazeer Hussain, Tuntun etc in it.

This “social” movie had eight songs in it. Six of these songs have been covered in the past.

Here is the seventh song from “Do Dilon Ki Daastaan”(1966) to appear in the blog. This song is sung by Rafi. Raja Mehdi Ali Khan is the lyricist. Music is composed by O P Nayyar.

Only the audio of this song is available. My guess is that this song was picturised as a ghoda gaadi song, and the lip syncer is addressing the ghoda in this song. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on the picturisation of this song.

Song-Chal beta left chal beta right(Do Dilon Ki Daastaan)(1966) Singer-Rafi, Lyrics-Raja Mehdi Ali Khan, MD-O P Nayyar

Lyrics

hmm
hah
chal beta left
chal beta right
waah waah re teri chaal
kabhi left kabhi right
yaaron ka bura haal
kabhi left kabhi right
wah wah re teri chaal
kabhi left kabhi right
yaron ka bura haal
kabhi left kabhi right

chalta hai kitni shaan se
masti mein jhoomta
baatein hawa se karta hai
baadal ko choomta
chalta hai kitni shaan se
masti mein jhoomta
baatein hawa se karta hai
baadal ko choomta
nahkre bhi hain kamaal
kabhi left kabhi right
yaron ka bura haal
kabhi left kabhi right
waah waah re teri chaal
kabhi left kabhi right
yaaron ka bura haal
kabhi left kabhi right

soorat banaane waale ne
achchi banaai hai
is par aji janaab ka gussa
duhaai hai
soorat banaane waale ne
achchi banaai hai
is par aji janab ka gussa
duhaai hai
hai gaal laal laal
kabhi left kabhi right
kabhi left kabhi right
hai gaal laal laal
kabhi left kabhi right
yaron ka bura haal
kabhi left kabhi right
waah waah re teri chaal
kabhi left kabhi right
yaaron ka bura haal
kabhi left kabhi right

achchi nahin hai raah mein
itni chatak matak
chalna ji dekh bhaal ke
kachchi hai ye sadak
achchi nahin hai raah mein
itni chatak matak
chalna ji dekh bhaal ke
kachchi hai ye sadak
gir jaaye na sambhal
kabhi left kabhi right
yaaron ka bura haal
kabhi left kabhi right
waah waah re teri chaal
kabhi left kabhi right
yaaron ka bura haal
kabhi left kabhi right

Only the audio of this song is available. Still, one ca readily tell that this song is an archtypical O P Nayyar style ghoda gaadi song. It is sung by Md Aziz. Qamar Jalalabadi is the lyricist. Music is composed by O P Nayyar.

I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on the movi as well as on the picturisation of this song.

With this song, “Nishchaiy”(1992) makes its debut in the blog.

Missing Films of 1960s – 19
– – – – – – – – – – – – – –

We are now getting close to the end of 1962. The next film from that year which is being introduced today is ‘Sher Khan’. The film and its songs are available on the internet, and have been for some time now. Apparently,  we just did not get around to bringing up here, the songs from this film. Probably it is the obscurity of the film and its title, and the level of unfamiliarity that the team may have with this film and its songs. With music by SN Tripathi, the songs of this film are very good. Once we get to hear them, then the mind wonders – where have these been hiding so far. But anyway, we are getting to them now, and that is a good thing.

Today, the 4th of August, is a day we celebrate as the birth anniversary of one of Hindi film industry’s undoubted geniuses, Kishore Kumar.

The term “genius” tends to get thrown around rather loosely and frequently nowadays, much like terms like “legend” and “great”. This is all the more reason why I am rather cautious when I use it and certainly don’t throw it around.

Having said that, I have absolutely no hesitation in using it for Kishore Kumar (or Kishoreda as he is fondly referred to by his friends and fans). Kishore da was one of those rare individuals who tried his hand at many dimensions of the industry – and left a mark with most of them. In a sense, he can be called a true harfan maula of the industry.

(You must have heard the song – “Badaa Hi CID Hai Wo Neeli Chhatri Waala”.  It is on our blog.  Seems as if this song needs to be modified.  Like This – “Bade Hi CID Hain, Ye Atul Gang Ke Members, Gaana Guess Karne Mein Hain Awwal Number”.  Sorry, this one is not yet on the blog).
