#the Decade of Seventies – 1971 – 1980 #
————————————————————————
# Bhoole-Bisre Geet # (Remembrance Day- Laxmichhaya)
——————————————-———————————————

Today 09th May’2023 is the ‘remembrance anniversary’ of yesteryears actress and dancer Laxmichhaya.

She was born on 07th January’1948 and she passed away on 09th May’2004.

She had acted in many movies, mainly in role of dancer or club dancer I guess. Though I am not going to list all her movies here, I would like to mention the movie ‘Mera Gaaon Mera Desh-1971’ in which I likde her role the most and it has been my favorite movie too.

Today as a tribute to her I am presenting a song from the movie ‘‘Ek Khilaadi Baawan Pattey-1972’.

‘Ek Khilaadi Baawan Pattey-1972’ was directed by Ravi Khanna for ‘Art India Movies, Bombay’. It was produced by Ashok Roy, one time associate of J. Omprakash ji, and this was his first film as a Producer.

Its cast includes Dev Kumar, Naqi Jahaan, Laxmi Chhaya, Jr. Mehmood, Mohan Choti, Sajjan, Dulari, Padma, C.S. Dubey, Brahm Bharadwaj, Satyen Kappu, Ravi Khanna, Master Manoj, Master Ravi, Baby Padmini, Sadhana Khote, Lata Arora, Virender, Nishan Singh, Sushila, Premji, Raj Narayan, June Maxworth and others.

Tarun Bose makes a friendly appearance in the film while Vinod Khanna had a ‘special role’ in the film.

‘Ek Khilaadi Baawan Pattey-1972’ has five songs penned by Hasrat Jaipuri and composed by Sonik- Omi (assisted by Raj Kumar and Uttam Singh). Asha Bhonsle has given her voice to four songs and one song is sung by Omi.

One song from this movie – the title song – has already been posted on the blog on 19.08.2015.

Today we listen to the second song from this movie which is picturised on Laxmichhaya. Asha Bhonsle is the singer and this song is a club dance song.

We can also see Dev Kumar, Vinod Khanna and many other artistes in the picturisation of this song. From the picturisation of the song we can guess that Laxmichhaya is singing this song to alert Dev Kumar to escape from the trap of Vinod Khanna who seems to be after his life.

Lyrics for the song are by Hasrat Jaipuri and music is composed by Sonik-Omi.

Let us enjoy this song now. ..

#The Decade of Seventies – 1971 – 1980 #
————————————————————
# Bhoole-Bisre Geet # 159 # Missing Films of 1972 – 07#
——————————————

We are celebrating fifty years of the decade 1971-1980 and currently going through the missing movies from the year 1972 alphabetically. In the previous post we had a song from the movie ‘Kaamna’ i.e. movie starting with alphabet ‘K’. Today we continue moving alphabetically still but jumping one ‘missing’ movie (without a ‘hint’ or ‘explanation’, but only for good reasons 😊) and stopping at the movie ‘Kundan’. I do not remember to have read about this movie earlier and anywhere other than HFGK Vol-V (1971-1980).

‘Kundan’ was directed by Prayag Raj for RM Arts Productions, Bombay. It had Shatrughan Sinha, Vijayshree (South/new discovery), Ranjeet, Lakshmi Chhaya, Veena Tiwari, Shekhar Purohit, Jayshree T, Indira Bansal, Prakash Mishra, Master Chiku, Fazal Khan, Sujata, Rajani Bala, Prem Sagar, Mirza Musharraf, Anjuman, Maqbool, Kamal Kumar, Arun Kaul, Omi Chopra, Gurbachan, Vinod Rao and others. Ram Mohan and Jeevan make a special appearance in this movie. This movie was passed by Censor Board on 05.12.1972

This movie has five songs written by Majrooh Sultanpuri and composed to music by Ganesh. The list of songs in this movie is as given below (as provided in HFGK).

Sl. No.

Song Title

Singer/s

01 Baankaa Sipahiya Aaya Mori Galiyaan Suman Kalyanpur
02 Haathon Mein Botal, Botal Mein Nashaa Band Asha Bhonsle, Usha Mangeshkar
03 Dil Ka Qaraar Laayi, Nazron Ka Pyaar Laayi Lata Mangeshkar
04 Aa Gaya Hai Panchhi To Jaane Doongi Kaise Asha Bhonsle
05 Utthne De Parda Chalne De Teer Asha Bhonsle

As mentioned above I got to know about this movie through HFGK only, so can’t say much about it.

Music for this movie is composed by Ganesh and this might be my first contribution of his song, so I am delighted to present the today’s rocking song. I was under the impression that all movies where music is composed by Ganesh are present on the blog.

Today’s song is sung by Suman Kalyanpur and on screen it is lip synced and performed by Lakshmi Chhaya. This song seems to be happening at a marriage function. Also seen in the picturisation of this song are Tiwari, Iftekhar, Ranjeet and many others.

Here is the alphabetical list of movies of 1972 up to today’s movie, which is the 67th film in this list.
Ed Note: In the interest of brevity, the list is collapsed to show the films onward from the previous episode in the series , namely ‘Kaamna’ plus the ones that are without any available information or songs. Readers may refer to previous episodes of this series for earlier details – “Tori Nathani Kaahe Haale Doley Ri“.

  1. Songs for ‘Bachche Mere Saathi’, ‘Gunfighter Johny’ and ‘Hunterwaali’ seems to be unavailable as of now.
  2. The film ‘Kavi Sammelan’ was a presentation of poetry by selected iconic poets of our country, of that time. No audio or video clips are available for this film.
  3. There is no information about the songs in HFGK Vol-V (1971-1980) for the movies – ‘Aakraant’, ‘Bharat Darshan’, ‘Fighter Sheela’ and ‘Jaadoo Nagari’ as mentioned above.

With today’s song the movie ‘Kundan’ makes its debut on the blog. The video link is shorter, and has only one stanza. The audio link has two stanzas.

Let us now enjoy the today’s rocking song…
