‘Chhal’ (2002) was produced under the banner of Ishaan Films and was directed by Hansal Mehta. The cast included Kay Kay Menon and Jaya Seal in the lead roles with the supporting cast of Naved Aslam, Shrivallabh Vyas, Prashant Narayanan, Apurva Asrani, Manoj Mishra, Anil Chaudhary, Arash, Preeti Koppikar, Shailendra Srivastav, Sanjeev Jha, Abhijeet Lahiri, Sanjay Mishra, Makarand Deshpande etc. It was a debut Hindi film for Jaya Seal and the second Hindi film for Kay Kay Menon, Naved Aslam and Prashant Narayanan. It was Hansal Mehta’s second film as a director. So, it was an important film for these artists for furthering their filmy career.

The film is a gangster movie of the lines of some films of this genre like ‘Satya’ (1998) and ‘Company’ (2002). Broadly, it is a story of a cop (Kay Kay Menon) who gets infiltrated into a gang led by a Don (Shrivallabh Vyas) as a goon to get important information and evidence against the Don and his Deputy to effectively prosecute them. With the passage of time, the cop becomes an important part of the gang. He passes on the important information to police chief (Naved Islam) including the plan of the Don to shift to Malaysia leaving his Deputy, Girish (Prashant Narayanan), a hit man of the gang, to take charge of Mumbai region.

With the period of time, the undercover cop gets emotionally attached to gang members. He also falls in love with Girish’s sister (Jaya Seal) whom he had saved from the abduction by a rival gang. Now the Don and his deputy trust under-cover cop more than his police chief who fears that the cop may become a rogue under-cover. Later, the undercover cop realises that he has become a pawn in the fight between the Don and the police department and within the gang itself as Don wants to make the undercover cop as his successor by eliminating Girish, his prospective brother-in-law. More importantly, now the political boss wants to call off the mission to nab the don. The film’s end is sarcastic with Makarand Deshpande appearing in a cameo role of a new under-cover cop to nab the Don.

I have watched a pirated version of the film with less than average quality of video. The film gives a glimpse of a fast-paced suspense thriller. The scenes are well executed with tight editing and close ups. The performances of all the important characters – Kay Kay Menon, Prashant Narayanan, Shrivallabh Vyas and Naved Aslam are excellent. Jaya Seal has limited presence in the film as can be expected in a gangster film. Her love angle with the undercover cop seems to give some respite to the audience from crime and violence to the emotional turmoil. The climax of the film, which I have deliberately not discussed above, is well handled to retain the suspense until the last.

There are a couple of emotionally charged scenes which depict the unenviable position of the under-cover cop. The first is with his boss in police during which both of them have heated arguments about his love affair with the Girish’s sister. He also seeks the answer from his boss as to what he is supposed to do if the police fires at him thinking that he is a gang member. His boss has no answer. The second scene is between the under-cover cop and Girish whom he faces after the latter comes to know about his sister’s love affair with the cop. The scene becomes an anti-climax when, rather than a scene of confrontation, Girish is quite happy about his sister’s choice.

The negative point about the film is that there are couple of songs which work as a speed breaker to the fast-paced progress of the story. These songs appear like item numbers, probably added at the insistence the film’s distributor. Only the title song of the film is appropriate to the theme of the film.

The film has 5 songs including a second version song written by debutant Amitabh Verma and set to music by Viju Shah. I am presenting the first song, ‘chup chaap karten hain baaten’ from the film to appear on the Blog. The song has female and male versions rendered by Sadhana Sargam and Shaan separately. While video clip of the female version of the song is available, I did not find the picturisation of the male version of the song in the film. Probably, it may have have been edited out in the final print.

The female version of the song is picturised on Kay Kay Menon and Jaya Seal as a background song when their love affair is blossoming. In a couple of scenes, Jaya Seal is also seen with Prashant Narayanan who, apart from a hit man of the gang is also her brother in the film. Jaya Seal-Ghosh, is a Bharatnatyam dancer and an actress from Assam. She is an alumnus of NSD and has acted in Hindi, Assamese, Bangla, Odiya, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada films as well as TV serials among others.

Interestingly, there is a verse in the song, ‘khushbuyen aati hain ab mere sapnon se‘ which reminds me of Gulzarian type of imagery in the song, ‘hamne dekhi hai un aankhon ki mehkati khushbu‘ from ‘Khamoshi’ (1969).

5394 Post No. : 17699

It really has been a while– I do not follow the current Hindi films scene on a regular basis. I think this started in mid 1980s. One factor was that my life became quite mobile as far as my work situation was concerned. Moving to Bombay (now Mumbai) in 1987, then on to US in 1988, back in Delhi 1996, change of workplace two times, and then back again in the US in 2000. Back in Delhi 2009/10, and then more ongoing travel albeit shorter and less frequent.

There are two more factors that I can think of. My deep interest in Hindi films and film music has been with me since I was a student of 3rd/4th grade school. A big chunk of my memory is full of many items starting from that period. However, as we get on to 1980s, and beyond the mid 1980s, the flavors of music in films were changing. For good or bad, I do not make this judgment, but it became different from the likeable and favorite stock stored in me. And so the interest started to wane somewhat. 1980s was also a period of significant transition and churn in terms of the artists and persona who had molded my interest and my love for this art form. Many left us, and many others were sidelined, for reasons I once again do not want to make a judgment on. Bottom line was that the music that was being created in the industry was holding less and less attraction and interest for me.

No, this is not a blanket dismissal of everything that has happened in the industry since mid 1980s. Just that there were progressively lesser artifacts that would catch my attention, and get added to my list of favorites in the memory stores.

Another factor that started becoming more prominent in life relates to the advent of the internet in the 1990s. Being in the IT industry, we were always at the forefront of the changes that were being brought in technology. Email appeared, messaging appeared, and network connectivity in some limited manner became available. Working in IT companies, I was always connected to whatever was the extent of the online net availability. Public networks and home connectivity was still a few years ahead, but from the offices, we had the luxury of being able to access whatever online resources were available then.

I remember I was on an assignment in San Dimas, close to LA in California. While browsing the internet from my office I stumbled upon a web site that had been put up by a gentleman named Amarjeet Singh Anand, who lived in San Fernando, further south from where I was. I discovered a gold mine – songs that were heard on radio in the 60s and 70s, and then never heard of again. The recordings were very low bit rate – the networks could not support high volumes. But I latched on to this website, and my entire weekends were spent in office, dedicated to downloading everything I could. The websites were not restricted, the concept and ability to download was not well known, and the office networks also did not have any controls as yet. Once having figured out the download capability, it was a trip into a wonderland of music of the years gone by, the music that was burnt onto the hard drives in my memory.

Then started this new phase of my passion for this music. Now the trip became to collect Hindi film songs in digital form. As time progressed, more and more online resources were discovered. Also one started getting introduced to more people who were doing such collections – the network grew and so did the collections by exchange and sharing.

And so, the interest in the current Hindi cinema and its music never really took any roots inside. The search still continues. This activity brought me in contact with many more like minded collectors, archivists and film history buffs. Geet Kosh came into life and a lot changed after that. And then Atul ji stepped into my life through Atul-Song-A-Day. And of course, the things in life were never the same again.

So in the current times, viewing of films and listening to music is more as per recommendations from friends and family members. I continue to read enough news to keep abreast of the current happenings in Hindi cinema, but only rarely do I get motivated to see any films of the new crop.

But that does not mean that my contact with current cinema is zero. As I said, based on recommendations I do keep in touch. The film ‘Dil Chaahta Hai’ (2001) – I had heard good things about this film. A maiden production effort by Farhan Akhtar ; a story revolving around the lives of three very close friends, and their fortunes in personal relationships.

I was based in San Jose at that time. I think I got to see this film probably in 2003 or 2004. A junior Indian colleague at work coaxed me to see this film. He expressed surprise that I had not seen this film. He promptly made a DVD disc for me, to view at leisure.

In many ways, it was a first introduction to many an actor from the newer generation. It was the first time to find out that Farhan Akhtar is the son of Javed Akhtar (from his earlier marriage with Honey Irani). Also the first time to be introduced to the lyrics from the pen of Javed Akhtar. Also to know that the tradition of duo and trio music directors in Hindi cinema is still alive with Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy. And to be introduced to the new crop of actors – Aamir, Priety, Saif, Akshay (Khanna), Sonali et al. And to find out to my dismay that my sweet little Bobby, the heartthrob of my college days, had actually aged.

The film is about love, about different flavors of it. That different people view it differently, treat it differently, have different interpretations and expectations. The fundamental message being that each person has a different opinion of love, and it is a great fortune to meet someone who has the similar view in life. Yes, truly a great fortune. Having been fed on primarily happy ending fairy tales that I had been viewing since childhood, the mindset of the child within was that there is always a smooth ride and a happy outcome of a love story. No, not that I have not viewed films at variance with this view, but still. After a gap of having kept distance from Hindi films, ‘Dil Chahta Hai’ was a wonderful refresher course in looking at filmy love stories once again.

I liked the film at first viewing itself. And also the music and songs. A learning for me that yes, music can be refreshing coming from artists whose names I had never heard before, and names that did not inspire any confidence. And yet, this film and its music entered my list of favorites. And that too, post 2000.

Four songs of this film are already on the blog. I present today a lilting exchange between the girl-boy pair in their effort to find the perfect match in life. There is a certain old world charm and a slowly sinking in surrealism in the presentation of this song. Sameer (role played by Saif Ali Khan) and Pooja (role played by Sonali Kulkarni) are friends who go to see a film. The magic happens in the cinema hall, and we come face to face with another “dream of wide awake eyes” experience. Immersed in the music, both Sameer and Pooja fancy themselves to be the protagonists on the screen. The love song being played is “dreamed” of as being enacted by them. There is disbelief at first, which is then followed by a disarming acceptance of a shared experience that brings to surface realizations that they have probably been nurturing inside.

And the surrealism comes to a sharp pitch at the end of the song sequence, when the entire audience inside the hall joins the love birds in chorus, acknowledging the presence of an “Aha” moment amidst them. A cute presentation. The song picturization, the dress up, the dance steps all are an enlivening throwback on the earlier decades of Hindi cinema.

This song once again further emboldens the firm belief that all it takes to make love and consent appear between the supposed love birds is three minutes (in this case five), i.e. the duration of a song. All that is in doubt is set right, all that is hidden beneath surprised appearances surfaces, the smiles come on, and the hand-in-hand arms entwined happy outcome is signaled at the end of the three minutes. Well, somethings will probably never change. And thankfully so. 😀

Getting close to time out and I must pause to make this post online. The century marker trumpet is just waiting behind me to tootle the announcement of the 177th century milestone. So without much further ado, take a listen to this song and then on to the milestone.

Happy listening.

Song – Wo Ladki Hai Kahaan  (Dil Chaahta Hai) (2001) Singer – Shaan, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Lyrics – Javed Akhtar, MD – Shankar, Ehsaan, Loy

Lyrics

jise dhoondhta hoon main har gali
jo kabhi mili mujhe hai nahin
mujhe jiske pyaar par ho yakeen
wo ladki hai kahaan

jise sirf mujhse hi pyaar ho
jo ye kehne ko bhi taiyaar ho
suno tum hi mere dildaar ho
wo ladki hai kahaan

jo tumhaare khwaabon mein hai basi
wo haseen murti pyaar ki
miliegi tumhen kabhi na kabhi
zara dekho yahan wahan

chalo dhoondhte hain hum tum kahin
wo pari wo hoor wo naazneen
jise dekho to kaho tum wahi
arey ye to hai yahaan

jaane kyon
khayaal aaya mujhe
ke wo ladki kahin tum to nahin..een
tum mein hain
wo saari khoobiyaan
hai jinko dhoondhta
main har kahin
tumhen dhokha lagta hai ho gaya
mujhe hai samajh liya jaane kya
na main hoon pari na hoon apsara
karo tum na ye gumaan
jise dhoondhta hoon main har gali
jo kabhi mili mujhe hai nahin
mujhe jiske pyaar par ho yakeen
wo ladki hai kahaan

maan lo
agar main ye kahoon
ke mere khwaabon mein
tum hi to ho..oo..oo
jaan lo
mera armaan hai
ke mere saath hi
ab tum raho..oo..oo
mujhe tumne kya ye samjha diya
mere dil ko kaise dadhka diya
mere tan badan ko pighla diya
wo sunaai daastaan..aan

jise dhoondhta hoon main har gali
jo kabhi mili mujhe hai nahin
mujhe jiske pyaar par ho yakeen

Welcome 2021♫•*¨*•.¸¸♪

I wanted to embellish the heading of this post “Welcome 2021” with some emoticons, but since the keyboard has no such facility, dropped the idea. Google has the copy past option somewhere, but it seems like too much hassle. Obviously, everyone at google is working from home. Me thinks, all those big, huge, luxurious complexes hosting those multinational and national corporate offices, are soon to be converted into ‘khandar’ facilities, aka Mukesh Mills for shooting of films outdoorsy songs :-), fountains, glass panels, pillars and all. Not to mention funky cafe’s and state of the art gym and sports facilities.

Recently, I have been looking at a lot of outdoorsy, going places kind of songs, shot in different locations. Could not avoid the outdoor songs of “Dil Chahta hai”. But since the party song in the film is not posted, I decided on it. The song is “Koyi kahe kehta rahe kitna bhi ham ko deewaana”, by Shankar Mahadevan, Shaan and KK. In the party, Aamir Khan, Saif Ali Khan and Akshaye Khanna are dancing and singing with Suchitra Pillai and Priety Zinta. It is so fast paced and all three voices are so in tune with each other, that I thought the colour coding is going to be a headache. But once I had figured out that it was Shaan’s voice for Saif Ali Khan, it was smooth sailing from then on. Javed Akhtar’s lyrics are as always inspiring and upbeat, and the music compositions by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy were outstanding and were so fresh sounding back then. The whole movie, characterization, presentation, direction, cinematography and overall look was a novelty in 2001. Some call it a path breaking film, ahead of its time. But no, the time for such a fun, adventurous, neat, humorous and colorful look, had come. I read in the trivia that the songs of this film were created in 3 days, when Javed Akhtar & Farhan Akhtar headed to Lonavala along with Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy for the duration and all the songs were ready for recording. Now I am able to see that quarter, if not half of Mumbai party goer’s crowd, has already left for Lonavala for the New Year Eve, and roads leading to it are clogged since last two days.

Let us talk about the music score of this film. These two songs are posted:

Song Date of posting
Dil Chaahta Hai 8 August 2018
Kaisi hai ye rut 2 December 2019

1. The first song is the title song of the movie, a background song sung by Shankar Mahadevan. The phrase “chamkeele din” describes the mood and theme of the song. It is picturized as a holiday theme song on the road trip to Goa, by the three friends, Aamir Khan, Saif Ali Khan and Akshaye Khanna.
2. Second song is a dreamy concoction, with Akshaye, the artist, painting a portrait of Dimple Kapadia, while he falls in love with her.
3. Jaane kyun log pyar karte hain – This song is reminisce of the “Mehboob ki Mehendi”, jaane kyun log muhobbat kiya karte hain song. It is picturized on Aamir Khan and Priety Zinta. This one has nice, to and fro banter between the two characters.
4. Woh ladki hai kahan – This song started a trend of retro songs in hindi films. Really funky take off of older movie songs, in black and white canvas, with Saif Ali Khan and Sonali Kulkarni.
5. Tanhaayee – This is a sad song, where Aamir Khan is lonely as Priety Zinta is leaving Australia. Coming to terms that he, who never let any girl close has finally fallen in love.
6. Koyikahe – The party song of the current post.

I have heard accounts of how many times people have seen this film in theatre’s when it was released in 2001, and during the first weekend of its release. I must have seen it a little later, having heard it being praised no end, by my then immediate boss who saw it the first weekend it released.

So this is a party song for the New Year party all are advised to give a miss. Not that I go anywhere on New Year’s Eve, we are more of a stay at home kind of people and family.

No matter, we will go places in the New Year, through some fabulous songs. In sha Allah.

I am sharing this beautiful ‘nazm’ which is a prayer too, received from a friend:

Aao december ko rukhsat Karen

Kuchh khushiyon ko sambhalkar
Kuchh aansuon ko taalkar
Jo lamhe guzre chaahton mein
Jo pal beete rafaaqaton mein
Kabhi waqt ke saathh chalte chalte
Jo thak ke ruke raaston mein
Kabhi khushiyon ki umeed mili
Kabhi bichhde huuon ki deed mili
Kabhi be-panah muskuraa diye
Kabhi hanste hanste ro diye
In saare lamhon ko mukhtasar Karen
Aao disamber ko rukhsat Karen

Koyi haar gayaa koyi jeet gayaa
Yeh saal bhi aakhir beet gayaa

Kabhi sapne sajaaye aankhon mein
Kabhi beet gaye pal baton mein

Kuchh talkh se lamhaat bhi thhe
Kuchh haadse aur sadmaat bhi thhe

Kuchh be-rukhi kuchh be-chaini
Kuchh man mein simti veeraani

Par ab ke baras aye dost mere
Allah se duaa ye maangi hai
Koyi pal na teraa udaas guzre
Koyi rog na tujhe raas guzre

Koyi shakhs na tujh se gilaa kare
Tu khush rahe aabaad rahe

Tu jo chahe wo ho jaaye
Tu jo maange woh mil jaaye

Teri mu’aaf wo har khataa kare
Tujhe aise hi rab ‘ataa kare

(Aameen)

I hope to bring in a party mood with today’s post. We are celebrating something very important. We are wishing our leader good health, good times, good infrastructure in the form of uninterrupted power supply and good broadband facilities. We are also wishing that he never loses interest in adding new posts and finds for us hitherto unheard songs from rare movies and gives us rare combinations in terms of music directors, singers, actors etc. And I promise on behalf of fellow followers of the blog that we will not stop following the blog, keep sending new farmaishes (requests), and the regulars will also help you keep track of upcoming milestones, birthdays anniversaries etc.

I am sure I have the support of all Atulites in what I have promised our dear Atulji. So, let us all wish him a very Happy Birthday. May you relentlessly keep the blog moving. 🙂

The party song with this post is from Dharma Prorductions’ 2006 release ‘Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna’ which was directed by Karan Johar and starred his friend and favourite Shahrukh Khan with Rani Mukherjee, Preity Zinta, Kiron Kher, Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan with guest appearances by Arjun Rampal, Kajol and a few others. The movie had Shankar-Ehsaan- Loy for music directors and Javed Akhtar as the lyricist. Today’s song is in the voices of Shankar Mahadevan, Loy Mendonsa, Vasundhara Das and Shaan.

Happy Birthday Atulji!!! Lets party tonight.

Happy Friendship Day (5 august 2018) to all Atulites.

It is has become a practice in recent times to celebrate Friendship Day on the first Sunday of August. So, I did a little reading up about it on the internet. The website of Indian Express gave me this:

First proposed in Paraguay in 1958, the General Assembly of the United Nations declared July 30 as the official International Friendship Day on April 27, 2011. But many countries, like India, celebrate it on the first Sunday of August. It all started when Joyce Hall, the founder of Hallmark cards proposed the celebrations in 1930. Before this, only greeting cards promoted the day and it was seen more as a gimmick. However, Nane Annan, the wife of UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan, declared the adorable bear Winnie the Pooh as the global Ambassador of Friendship at the UN in 1998. Every year, friends commemorate the day by exchanging gifts, greeting cards and going out for a get-together. Several restaurants, eateries and public spaces also, in their own way, celebrate this day and ensure that it is remembered by those who visit. There is also a common practice of exchanging bands among friends, as a token of their friendship. Friendship Day is for friends, those who stood by you when nobody did, and for those who had your back even in all the adverse situations. While we do celebrate the togetherness on other days too, isn’t it important to remember friends and have a dedicated to them?

So that then is what I found on the internet; that there is practice of exchanging bands, gifts and greeting cards and at the turn of the century it has become a huge commercial activity. For that matter everything is a commercial activity these days- Mother’s Day, Valentine’s day, Father’s Day etc.

I am meeting my “bachpan ke friends” this weekend and first time in all these years that we have met the meet is on Friendship Day. I am surely excited. This is the set of friends who know me from class 1. We are meeting to celebrate the 91st birthday of a person who was our teacher-cum-headmistress at school and I wouldn’t miss the event. We are expecting all her ex-students to congregate at our school. It sure is an emotional event. It has become all the more emotion-filled after another of our old teacher passed away last week at 92, and a friend of mine wrote a very nostalgic post of how she had groomed us, taught us arithmetic etc. It just jolted me that all those who mattered to us when we were growing up have also grown up, I don’t like to say GROWN OLD or AGED.

I was thinking whether there are any songs in Bollywood that show a loving teacher and her/ his students and I remembered: “Desh ka payara sab ka sahara kaun banega”; “bachchon tum taqdeer ho” etc. In recent years we had “Taare Zameen Par”. It had Aamir Khan play art teacher, who takes special care of Darsheel Safary, a student with Dyslexia, and helps him take the first step in overcoming his learning disability. The movie showed students of class 2 or 3 and the bonding between Darsheel and his classmate who has a physical disability. I am sure all of us would have had special friends in childhood and who we cared for fondly. Today we will have a song that is sung by Shaan and Aamir Khan, written by Prasoon Joshi and music is by Shankar- Ehsaan- Loy and Shailendra Barve.

ASAD 10th Anniversary Celebrations – 10
———————————————————————

I have just finished noting down lyrics of the song I have chosen – it has taken me one hour at least. I have listened to the song close to 4-5 times. I had to listen to some parts again and again trying to figure out what the singer was saying, revise my lyrics and note down which portions were sung by the male or female singer and which was sung by them both. I do this only once in a while, not being the owner of the blog but an occasional participant. It made me appreciate more and more the amount of dedication the usual writers put in. To combine all this with a write up to explain the song, add anecdotes related to the song and sometimes, stories that led to the song is all hard work, believe me. In this age and time of quick fixes, short cuts, bullet points and shortened attention spans it is difficult to even understand this kind of dedication.

Hats off to the owners of the blog (Atul ji and Sudhir ji) and a team of dedicated Atulties who fuel this blog with their enthusiasm. There are many Atulites who are intensely interested in the goings on related to the blog. I find they are all lovely people who share a deep love of music. Their camaraderie is commendable, not only do they discuss the events on the blog, but also try their best to meet up often. I have attended one such meeting and have been awed by the depth of knowledge they have of music and the various ways in which they share their knowledge.

I have chosen a song from a relatively new movie, ‘Yahan’ from 2005. It is the directorial debut of Shoojit Sircar who garnered fame for the movie that came after this, ‘Vicky Donor’ (2012) and ‘Piku’ (2015). This movie, as far as I remember, did not make any waves. I happened to see the movie in a cinema hall and was struck by it. Minissha Lamba impressed me and Jimmy Shergill is always a pleasure to watch. The story is about a Kashmiri girl, Ada, who falls in love with an army captain, Aman (Jimmy Shergill). They face many difficulties after they fall in love. Ada risks being ostracized, even killed, for loving an army officer, and that too, not of the same religion. Similarly, Aman is also labelled as a traitor for dealing with Ada’s brother who is a terrorist. The denouement is over simplistic. It is hard to imagine something as complex as Kashmir problem being solved (even in part) by a few acts of an army captain. The charm of the movie lay in the sweet character of the two protagonists. Aman is an upright man who takes full responsibility for the woman he loves. Ada hopes to find peace and love in Aman after dealing with the constant strife in her life.

Listening closely to this song while noting the lyrics, I was struck by the beautiful words penned by Gulzar, clothed most wonderfully by the lovely music composed by Shantanu Moitra. Shreya Ghoshal sings it beautifully, there are times when her voice drops to a whisper and rises again. There are times when the music fades and lets the singer’s voice do its magic. When Shreya sings “Jhelum Mein Beh Lenge”, it feesl like I am floating in Jhelum. The song drips with love and longing. It is hard for a song to be so beautiful unless all three key elements of it, music, lyrics and singing is at its best. In this song you can hear them at their best.

Enjoy the lovely song and send up thanks to our great Atulji for allowing us a platform to enjoy and share music like this and congratulations to all the creators of the blog and the readers.

Song – Poochhe Jo Koi… Meri Nishaani… Rang Henna Likhna (Yahaan) (2005) Singers – Shreya Ghoshal, Shaan, Unidentified Male Voice, Lyrics – Gulzar, MD – Shantanu Moitra
Shreya + Shaan

Lyrics

rakh saaiyan di

rakh saaiyan di

rakh saaiyan di jeeve
jeeve
jeeve
rab rakhwaala jeeve
rakh saaiyan di jeeve
jeeve
jeeve
rab rakhwaala jeeve

pooche jo koi
meri nishaani
rang henna likhna
gore badan pe
ungli se mera
naam ada likhna
kabhi kabhi aaspaas chaand rehta hai
kabhi kabhi aaspaas shaam rehti hai

aao na..aa..aa
aao na
jhelum me beh lenge
vaadi ke mausam bhi
ik din to badlenge
kabhi kabhi aaspaas chaand rehta hai
kabhi kabhi aaspaas shaam rehti hai

aaun to subhaa
jaaun to mera
naam sabaa likhna
barf pade to
barf pe mera
naam dua likhna

zara zara aag waag paas rehti hai
zara zara kaangde ki aanch rehti hai
kabhi kabhi aaspaas chaand rehta hai
shamme bujhane….
kabhi kabhi aaspaas shaam rehti hai
aati hain raaten….
raaten bujhaane
tum aa gaye ho..oo

jab tum hanste ho..oo
din ho jata hai
tum galey lago to..oo..oo
din so jaata hai
doli uthaaye
aayega din to
paas bitha lena
kal jo miley to
maathe pe mere
suraj uga dena
zara zara aaspaas dhoop rahegi
zara zara aaspaas rang rahenge
zara zara aaspaas dhoop rahegi
zara zara aaspaas rang rahenge

pooche jo koi meri nishani
rang henna likhna
gore badan pe ungli se mera
naam ada likhna
aa..aa..aa
kabhi kabhi aaspaas chaand rehta hai

kabhi kabhi aaspaas shaam rehti hai
kabhi kabhi aaspaas chaand rehta hai
kabhi kabhi aaspaas shaam rehti hai

rakh saaiyan di jeeve
jeeve
jeeve
rab rakhwala jeeve
rakh saaiyan di jeeve
jeeve
jeeve
rab rakhwaala jeeve

kabhi kabhi aaspaas chand rehta hai
nanna nanna na na na nanna rehti hai
. . . aaspaas sham rehti hai

lalla lalla laal laal laal la la la laa

lalla lalla aaspaas shaam rehti hai

Hullo to all in Atuldom

On this blog, Atul has a page for birthdays of various Hindi film artistes. He has meticulously kept track of these dates and makes it a point, as much as possible, to post a song honouring the artiste on the concerned date. That is like a doctor treating his patients.
