“Do Premi”(1980) was directed by Raj Khosla for Shalini Films, Bombay. This “Social” movie, which was based on a novel penned by Gulshan Nanda, had Rishi Kapoor, Moushumi Chatterjee, Om Prakash, I.S. Johar, Deven Verma, Geeta Behl, Roopesh Kumar, Gautam Sarin, Master Bhagwan, Aruna Irani, K.N. Singh, Trilok Kapoor, C.S. Dubey, Nawab, Rajni Luthra, Raj Kishore, Kundan, Piloo Wadia, Pal Sharma, Manmauji, Dinu Harish, Mansaram, Noor Dewasi, R R Somaiyya, Uma Khosla, Anita Khosla, Reena Khosla etc in it, with a new discovery called Raj Bharti in it.

The movie had six songs in it. Here is the first song from “Do Premi”(1980) to appear in the blog. This song is sung by Rafi and Asha Bhonsle. Anand Bakshi is the lyricist. Music is composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal.

The song is picturised on Rishi Kapoor and Mausami Chatterji as a horse riding song on snow.

The lyrics of this song were sent to me by nahm as far back as in 2011 and I had planned to cover this song at that time only. I do not know how this song managed to remain unposted all these years. It was lying in the drafts folder of the blog for all these days.

Better late than never. With this song, “Do Premi”(1980) makes its debut in the blog.

Song-Mausam pe jawaani hai (Do Premi)(1980) Singers-Rafi, Asha Bhonsle, Lyrics-Anand Bakshi, MD-Laxmikant Pyarelal

Lyrics (Provided by nahm)

Mausam pe jawaani hai

aur beech mein Laila hai
nehle par dehla hai ae
paagal na isey samjho o o

yeh Majnu chhaila hai

ghode hain haathhi hain
Ik dulha ik dulhan
aur baaqi baraati hain aen
ghode hain haathhi hain
Ik dulha ik dulhan
aur baaqi baraati hain
baraati hain
kis ke baraati hain aen
badmaash tere jaise ae ae
sab tere saathi hain

mausam pe jawaani hai

tu saath nahin hoti ee
tu saath nahin hoti
Kashmir ki yeh subaha
na itni haseen hoti
jo tu saath nahin hota
Kashmir ka yeh mausam
kuchh aur haseen hota

Rab jhoothh na bulwaaye
raat mein jab soyaa
mere sapne mein tum aaye
tum aaye
sapne mein ham aaye
sapne mein ham aaye ae
sachh tum ne kahaa hai yeh ae ae
rab jhoothh na bulwaaye
rab jhoothh na bulwaaye

wo kyun itraatey hain
mujhko to haseenon ke ae ae
kitne khat aatey hain
le wo kyun itraatey hain aen
jo khat khud likh likh ke ae ae
logon ko dikhaate hain

aa maang teri bhar doon
aa maang teri bhar doon
jaa le aa vakeel koyi ee

ab pyaar mohabbat mein aen aen
kya kaam vakeelon ka
ho ab pyaar mohabbat mein
kya kaam vakeelon ka

“चलना ज़िंदगानी दुनिया बहता पानी”

This song is another bright memory from the radio listening days. I had heard it only on the radio, and then it faded and remained elusive for many years. As I was preparing the list of songs for this series, I remembered this song, and then searched for it online.

Kishore Kumar was around in the Hindi movie playback scene for two decades from 1948 to 1968 but all these while he was on the fringes.
