Blog Day : 3533 Post No. : 14191

“Do Premi”(1980) was directed by Raj Khosla for Shalini Films, Bombay. This “Social” movie, which was based on a novel penned by Gulshan Nanda, had Rishi Kapoor, Moushumi Chatterjee, Om Prakash, I.S. Johar, Deven Verma, Geeta Behl, Roopesh Kumar, Gautam Sarin, Master Bhagwan, Aruna Irani, K.N. Singh, Trilok Kapoor, C.S. Dubey, Nawab, Rajni Luthra, Raj Kishore, Kundan, Piloo Wadia, Pal Sharma, Manmauji, Dinu Harish, Mansaram, Noor Dewasi, R R Somaiyya, Uma Khosla, Anita Khosla, Reena Khosla etc in it, with a new discovery called Raj Bharti in it.

The movie had six songs in it. Here is the first song from “Do Premi”(1980) to appear in the blog. This song is sung by Rafi and Asha Bhonsle. Anand Bakshi is the lyricist. Music is composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal.

The song is picturised on Rishi Kapoor and Mausami Chatterji as a horse riding song on snow.

The lyrics of this song were sent to me by nahm as far back as in 2011 and I had planned to cover this song at that time only. I do not know how this song managed to remain unposted all these years. It was lying in the drafts folder of the blog for all these days.

Better late than never. With this song, “Do Premi”(1980) makes its debut in the blog.

nahm began to contribute lyrics in the blog from 8 feb 2011, about a month after Atif M (the first lyrics contributor in the blog). That made nahm the second regular lyrics contributor for the blog. The first song contributed by her that appeared in the blog was Do dil toote do dil haare (Heer Raanjha)(1970). This was followed by Aap yoon faaslon se guzarte rahe (Shankar Hussain)(1976). The third contribution was Ab to hai yumse har khushi apni (Abhimaan)(1973).

One of my pet grouses against Hindi movies is that they do not lay stress on working for a living. Hindi movies show people either romancing their beloved or singing sad songs when separated by the beloved. And those who do not indulge in such activities are shown remonstrating with the almighty for their misfortune. Hindi movie characters are rarely shown working for their living.
