This article marks the 1000th song contribution by Prakashchandra in the blog.
We in this blog have nearly thirty odd people, may be a little more, who could be called blog regulars. They visit the blog regularly, comment on it regularly and they are contributors to the blog as well, in one way or the other.
I have met a few blog regulars over the years and I have interacted with several others on phone, e mail, whatsapp etc. Blog regulars too have met each other either personally or on whatsapp, facebook, email, phone etc. We these days have get togethers of regulars which we call “gangout”, which is a word of our own making. Nearly a dozen gangouts of blog regulars have already taken place so far.

Recently, we were introducing the contributors of the blog in the run up to the 10,000th song. These introductions turned out to be a big hit with the readers of the blog. Most people think that life is like a limited overs cricket match where one has just one innings which ends when one retires from his job. But in reality one still has a long enough life ahead of him/ her. Internet became available to public in 1995, and it became available to Indian public in 1996. I became exposed to it in 1997 and I began to have internet connection at home from 1998 onwards.
Development of internet took place rapidly and internet forums came into existence soon. I was a cricket enthusiast and I was looking forward to join a cricket forum. I could not find an Indian cricket forum of my liking. There were cricket forums populated by loud, jingoist and abusive ignorants but those sites were not my cup of tea. I finally settled for a Pakistani cricket forum called pakcricbuzz (by now defunct). This was quite a sensible cricket forum and it had some Indians too in it. One Indian called Saurabh was one of its moderators. This happened in the second half of 2004.

When Atul ji added this blog on facebook, a small change happened to the blog page too. In the right hand column, there appeared a matrix of 15 tiny portraits, representing some of the newer persons who are following the blog on the facebook. This is a good place to see some old friends and even sometimes new and familiar faces. And yes, occasionally I have espied even celebrity names as I run my mouse over these images.

Now this gets cosmopolitically interesting. She is from a Keralite family that settled in Mumbai about a century ago; herself she is born and brought up in Mumbai, got married to a gentleman from Tamilnadu (I think he won’t mind if we call him Peevesie’s Dad), and currently settled in Bangalore. (Maybe she can head a movement for national integration). Interestingly, today she is back in her hometown – Cochin, as this write up gets published. But that is just for a short weekend vacation, she assures me.

Sadanand Kamath, a pillar of this blog is one of the seniormost regulars of this blog. His introduction in his blog makes for an impressive reading. It mentions:

When I was pointed into the right direction, i.e. JK Rowling and Harry Potter, then the mystery dissolved away, and the nickname ‘Peevesie’ came out in a better light. And after spending maybe an hour with her, the significance of the nickname also eased itself into my mind. In the Harry Potter series, Peeves is a poltergeist at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, since c. 993. Fond of mischief and chaos, he is known as the spirit of chaos around the school. And so, picking up from her favorite series of teenage adventures, the daughter of Peevesie’s Mom selected this nickname for herself. Hmmm. . . is it that the daughter of Peevesie’s Mom selected this nickname for herself and was then known as Peevesie, or is it that she picked this nickname and then her mom came to be known as Peevesie’s Mom – it is getting a little mixed up in the order in which the things may have happened.
