Blog Day :

47207 Post No. : 16431 Movie Count :

4463

We have often likened this blog to a ‘train and its journey’. Here this train- ‘the blog’ is driven by the ‘engine’ that is our fearless leader Atul ji. The coaches of this train or the ‘wagons’ 🙂 are the team members. This train – a ‘bandwagon’ is on an exciting journey of exploring and discussing yesteryear Hindi Film Music and some non-film music too. The blog is read all over the globe (right?) and there are many many readers and well-wishers associated with this blog.

The journey is on … and before anybody ‘sleeps’ :), he or she must fulfill the commitments made to themselves and for the blog. These commitments have been taken voluntarily by the members with the permission of the ‘leader’. From the team members there already is our ‘in-house’ ‘encyclopedia’ and seniors writing in-depth posts on the yesteryear’s music and movies. There are passionate team members actively participating in this journey of ‘love for the cinema and HFM’.

Then there is me often sending articles, lyrics contribution, reminders to the editors, pointing out corrections, giving suggestions and (emotional blackmailing 🙂 of the editors not included.) always requesting for something or the other, all the time. 🙂

So, everything is going on well in order like a ‘standard operating procedure’. Here it is mutually agreed and ‘non-documented’ ‘SOP’ operating successfully for more than ten years now (that is after the contributors joined). This blog is the best example of well-synchronized efforts towards a ‘common goal’ in agreement by all.

Well, everyone is now aware of what I have mentioned above. But how the blog was in its initial days …

When it started, only the originator ‘the leader’ was there, and then he was not also a leader but a simple ‘enthusiastic music lover’. I guess that when he initiated this blog, he was an already married person. What did you said … is that anything to do with this blog? Yes, because after all a family person has to look after his family and also needs to contribute to domestic work 😊 at least in a small way if not a big contribution.

So how it was all when Atul ji had just started the blog? And after that, how he keeps it going, moving from places to places in his professional life?

That imagination is the subject of the today’s article with a rocking song accompanying to it :).

Before that we need to see Atul ji in two aspects – one being ‘his self’ in isolation as the one-man army, and second as a ‘team leader’ with all team members. It is him only who is ‘constant’ (like ‘change’) and owns a responsibility to keep this blog going. So, how he sets out on this journey, travelling from places to places, exploring HFM. I am sure when he launched this blog his morale was at an all-time high-level.  Since he was already doing a job then, the workplace responsibility also gets added and after that he needs to find time for his passion – writing about Hindi movies, the songs, and his related memories.

So, the journey of blog started from Jabalpur and then moving from places to places – Jabalpur to Nagpur, Nagpur to Bilaspur, Bilaspur to Izzat Nagar (Bareilly)- it is now halting at Gorakhpur. The next station may be Bhopal 😊 we hope so 😊.

Well, the journey must have started with the same energy as our today’s hero started ‘main niklaa o gaddi le ke’ 🙂!

And every city he (our leader) lived in he left his ‘dil’ and collected ‘unforgettable memories’ of these places. In this process he did not care where he was. He was just moving … ‘gaddi le ke’

On the way he finds ‘moti’ (substitute for ‘mutiyaar’ 🙂 ), or actually lot of ‘motis’ (pearls). These are the ‘rarest of rare gems’ that are posted on the blog. Imagine that the dot days on the blog are the obstacles or ‘phaatak’ and ‘signal’. But, being disciplined person, our leader will not break the signal (translation of ‘signal todna’ or jumping the signal) and run, but he will wait’ and resume with more force with new milestones. Just think that the milestones are the centuries of songs and stations en route are the centuries of the various artists.

I believe that our leader does not believe in ‘dreaming’ and is a ‘man of action’. But, if not dreaming, at least, he must be planning some special articles for special occasions and combining them to ‘special statistical events’ on the blog. There are many new things – new songs – of yesteryear (starting from the thirties) coming to the blog which maintain the excitement of this beautiful journey. New events with ‘older songs’ keep the momentum always on a higher scale.

Just imagine thousands of songs falling from the heaven like petals of flowers, their fragrance filled in all the space around, and the man with his both his hands trying to collect each petal and embracing them to his heart with love. . . each creation of the songs getting the same love and enthusiasm and resting at their places shining like a bright star. . .

(We have compared the treasure-trove of songs to the ‘ocean of songs’ many times, for a change this time we symbolize them with flower-petals falling from the heaven 🙂 so that we can embrace them to the heart.)

Operating in this digital age now and maneuvering the steering with remote controls the ‘gaddi’ is travelling. And the journey is on. . .

So today when our dear Atul ji is celebrating his birthday we wish him a very happy birthday and a healthy, wealthy, peaceful and ‘full of musical life’ ahead. . .

Let us now enjoy this entertaining song dance performance in Jat Yamla style 🙂 and celebrate this occasion. . .

Blog Day :

4720 Post No. : 16430

Welcome all to this post. We are discussing movies who made their debuts on the blog in its initial days and then they remain with ‘only one song posted’ on the blog for a long time or specifically more than ten years of gap.  Under this condition the today’s movie is ‘Sharaafat’ (1970)’.

This movie made its debut on the blog with its only known song (I think so) ‘Sharaafat Chhod Di Maine’ on 02.11.2008. So, today after a gap of 4614 days (including 20.06.2021) or twelve years, seven months, and nine days we are going to listen the second song from this movie.

‘Sharaafat’ was directed by Asit Sen for ‘Seven Arts Pictures, Bombay’. It had Ashok Kumar, Dharmendra, Hema Malini, Soniya Sahni, Jagdeep, Abhi Bhattacharya, Kanhaiyalal, Sapru, Shabnam, Zebunnisa, Roopesh Kumar, Indrani Mukherji, Sundar, Niranjan Sharma, Poornima, Paro Devi, Jankidas, Brahm Bharadwaj, Chandrima Bhaduri, Kundan, Kesho Rana, Mohan Choti, Birbal, Tun Tun, Raj Kishore, Ajay Kashmiri, Prakash Mishra, Machhar, Dilip Dutt, Ratan Gaurang, Wajid Khan, Ravikant, Shefali, Bilkis, Jagdish Bhalla and many others.

This movie had six songs which are all female solo songs, five sung by Lata Mangeshkar and one solo by Asha Bhonsle. Lyrics for all songs of this movie are written by Anand Bakshi and music is composed by Laxmikant-Pyarelal. Following is the list of songs of this movie.

S.No. Song Title Singer
01 Mera rastaa rok rahe hain ye parbat anjaane … Lata Mangeshkar
02 Duniya ne sun li hai chhupke apni prem kahaani … Lata Mangeshkar
03 Pehle naa dekha jaise kisi ne, aise mujhe aaj dekha Lata Mangeshkar
04 Jeewandaata jagat pitaa tum Lata Mangeshkar
05 Sharaafat chhod di maine Lata Mangeshkar
06 Main manaaun bhalaa kis tarah aapko Asha Bhonsle

I do not remember to have watched this movie but I was always aware of its most popular song ‘Sharaafat Chhod Di Maine’. And for today’s post when I was looking for the other songs from this movie, I thought I will listen all and then decide. I listen to the today’s song and found it somewhat familiar, so I am presenting this song today.

The song is sung by Lata Mangeshkar and the gorgeous looking Hema Malini has lip synced it on screen. We can also see Dharmendra in his characteristic charming style of those years.

I hope you will also like this today’s song as I liked … it is something special 😊

Song – Mera Rasta Rok Rahe Hain Ye Parbat Anjaane (Sharafat) (1970) Singer – Lata Mangeshkar, Lyrics – Anand Bakshi, MD – Lakshmikant Pyaarelal

Lyrics

mera rasta rok rahe hain
ye parbat anjaane ae
main is paar khadi ye sochoon
kya us paar hai jaane

mera rasta rok rahe hain
ye parbat anjaane ae
main is paar khadi ye sochoon
kya us paar hai jaane

aa aa aa aa aa
aa aa aa aa

parde mein jaise koi baat hai
jaane ujaala hai ke raat hai ae
parde mein jaise koi baat hai
jaane ujaala hai ke raat hai
chanchal man kehta hai chal chal
darr na chhode aanchal
o phoolon ki galiyaan hai yaa
kaanton ke veeraane ae
main is paar khadi ye sochoon
kya us paar hai jaane ae

paaon mein gham ki zanjeer hai
man mein khushi ki tasveer hai
paaon mein gham ki zanjeer hai
man mein khushi ki tasveer hai
aashaa mujhko aage kheenche
aur niraasha pichhe ae ae
kis ki maanoon
aur kiski na maanoon
dil deewaane ae
main is paar khadi ye sochoon
kya us paar hai jaane ae
main is paar khadi ye sochoon
kya us paar hai jaane ae

Blog 10-Year Challenge (2010-2020) – Song No. 43
———————————————————————————–

Ten years back on this day 22nd July 2010 five songs were posted on the blog as per following.

Song

 Movie title-Year

 Remarks

Chaahaa thaa banoon pyaar ki raahon ka devata  Gunhaahon Kaa Devtaa-1967  3 of 7 songs posted
Dil milaa ke milo paas aake milo  Thakur Jarnail Singh-1966  3 of 6 songs posted
Ye khaamoshiyaan ye tanhaayiyaan  Ye Raaste Hai Pyaar Ke-1963  All songs covered
Bheegi chaandni chhaayi bekhudi  Suhaagan-1964  All songs covered
Ik baat bataa de jogi  Taj-1956  All songs covered

So, today, we have two movies eligible for posting a song under ‘Blog Ten-Year Challenge’ viz. ‘Gunaahon Ka Devta’ (1967) and ‘Thakur Jarnail Singh’ (1966). In this post, I am presenting a song from ‘Gunaahon Ka Devta’ wherein Prakash ji had sent the lyrics of this multiple versions song.

When I saw the mail and the song title, I was surprised to note that this song has not been posted yet on the blog. But when I checked the other remaining song from this movie, I was more surprised to note that there is one more song which I like very much because of the actor performing on it 😊 but this song too is yet to be posted on the blog. Well, I had watched this movie during my stay at Parli-Vaijnath from 1985-1988. And this movie did bring back memories of my stay there and the ‘peak movie watching period’ for me there, when I used to watch maximum movies of yesteryear coming to theatres. I remember I liked this movie and its songs too.

The film is produced and directed by Devi Sharma for ‘Janta Chitra’. It has Rajshri, Jeetendra, Mehmood, Leela Chitnis, Aruna Irani, Randhir, Tun Tun, Farida, Shahid, Rekha, SK Prem, Sujata, Jankidas and Jeevan. The story of this movie is also written by Devi Sharma, and its screenplay was written by Ravi Kapoor. Dialogues of this movie were written by Sarshar Sailani. Editing of this movie was done by Dharamvir. The movie was passed by Censor Board on 19.05.1967.

This movie has seven songs including one multiple version song. Lyrics were written by Hasrat Jaipuri and Shailendra (one song – the title song only). Music of this movie was composed by Shankar-Jaikishan. Mohd Rafi, Lata Mangeshkar, Mukesh, Manna Dey and Sharda had given their voices to for the songs in this movie.

So far, the following songs from ‘Gunaahon Ka Devta’ have been posted on the blog;

Chaahaa thaa banoon pyaar ki raahon ka devata  22.07.2010
Raam kare kahin nainaa naa uljhen  30.07.2010
Teer aankhon ke jigar ke paar kar do yaar tum  13.07.2012

Today’s song is the multiple version song where the male version is sung by Mohd Rafi and the female version has the voice of Sharda. Jeetendra is lip syncing in the voice of Rafi Saab in the male version whereas in the female version Rajshri is lip syncing in the voice of Sharda. Both of them are seen in the picturization of this song where we could see the lovers ‘complaining’ about each other for ‘trapping in love’ and simultaneously also reminding that one will not be able to forgot them easily.

As mentioned above lyrics of this song were sent by Prakashchandra.

Let us now enjoy this lovely song in both versions …

Lyrics (Provided by Prakashchandra)

haaye

hum ko to barbaad kiya hai
aur kise barbaad karoge
bhool na jaana aaj ke din ko
ek din hum ko yaad karoge

hum ko to barbaad kiya hai
aur kise barbaad karoge
bhool na jaana aaj ke din ko
ek din hamko yaad karoge
hum ko to barbaad kiya hai

tum chaaho to jaan bhi le lo
kaafir ho imaan bhi le lo
tum chaaho to jaan bhi le lo
kaafir ho imaan bhi le lo
dil waalon se paala pada hai ae
tum bhi bhala kya yaad karoge
ha haa
kis ki jaan logi
kya iraada hai
hum ko to barbaad kiya hai
aur kise barbaad karoge
bhool na jaana aaj ke din ko
ek din hamko yaad karoge
hum ko to barbaad kiya hai

hum bhi tumhein bechain karenge
pyaar mein aisa rang bharenge ae
hum bhi tumhein bechain karenge
pyaar mein aisa rang bharenge
neend na hogi in aankhon mein
tadpoge fariyaad karoge ae
ha ha
kis ki jaan logi
kya iraada hai
hum ko to barbaad kiya hai
aur kise barbaad karoge
bhool na jaana aaj ke din ko
ek din hamko yaad karoge

#the Decade of Seventies – 1971 – 1980 #
—————————————————————
# Bhoole-Bisre Geet # 62 # Remembering Pran Saab on his birth anniversary
———————————————–—————————

While watching our Hindi movies we carry some preconceived images of an actor/actors or actress/actresses based on roles they play in movies. It is quite common for an actor or actresses in Indian movies to get typedcast as an actor suitable only for ‘good’/‘positive’ or ‘bad’/‘negative’roles. So when we watch a movie, we expect an actor to play the same kind of stereotyped role that we have seen him play in the past. To come out of this stereotype successfully is a challenge and very few actors in Hindi film industry have been successful in shaking off their earlier image and being just as successful in their new roles.

Every moviegoer or movie buff has his own likes and dislikes for certain film personalities based on the roles they play on screen. Normally this feeling remains unaltered throughout.

Is it possible for us to “hate” an actor heartily for decades and then warming up to him subsequently and starting to “love” him with the same intensity ?

Yes, it is possible. There was this actor who was disliked and dreaded so much that no parents gave their sons his name for decades ! But when he started doing ‘good’ and ‘positive’ roles on screen we started to cheer for him, we began to dance when he breaks into a ‘song’, and ‘dance’, we ‘shed tears’ when he sacrificed his life doing ‘good’ on screen.

I am talking about Pran Saab, of course.

We can feel the images of ‘characters’ he played, in around ourselves, in our society or rather he transformed those ‘real life’ looking images into ‘reel life’ with superb improvisations through his style and mannerisms.

I have my set of memories associated with the movies he acted in and I am sure many others may also be having so.

And having said all the above I don’t really think that I have to go and mention here all those movies and the ‘roles’ I liked, because it cannot be covered in one article and the space (normally we give to one write up) here.

Pran Kishan Sikand born on 12th February 1920 (12.02.1920 – 12.07.2013) and today we remember him on his anniversary of birth.

He may not be present in his ‘flesh and blood’ around us but he is there ‘immortal’ in his ‘works’, sincere, dedicated, disciplined in his ‘acts’, ‘humble and generous’ in his living and still bent down on his knees and thanking his fans and crediting them all for his ‘success’ and moving us all in tears with his words ‘I bow before you all.’

Pran Saab we love you so much and thank you for all that you have given us!!!

***

The idea of this post came to my mind almost two years back when I broke into humming this song that is being presented today. I thought this song perfectly fits for this post of mine which is being presented today.

The lyrics in ‘Devnagri script’ are provided by my daughter Ashwini which I requested her then, however the post got delayed and hope it will be in time there with our editors at least now.

The other reason that I want to do a post on Pran Saab is the nostalgia and so many memories of his movies which always cherished and particularly of those years, the most happening years of Hindi Cinema – that is the ‘decade of seventies- 1971-1980’.
Of course, he had already been there in movies much before of the Seventies. But still, Seventies is an important decade for him too)

***

And taking it from the dialogue of the movie ‘Anand’ – ‘Anand maraa nahin Anand martein nahin’ I can put –

“Pran martein nahin – Pran amar hain”

Kya maar sakegi maut usey
Auron ke liye jo jeeta hai
Milta hai jahaan ka aa pyaar usey
Auron ke jo aansoo peeta hai
Kya maar sakegi maut usey
auron ke liye jo jeeta hai
Milta hai jahaan ka pyaar usey
auron ke jo aansoo peeta hai
Kya maar sakegi maut usey

Baalaapan vidya ke liye hai
Bhog ke liye jawaani hai
Baalaapan vidya ke liye hai
Bhog ke liye jawaani hai
Jog ke liye budhaapa hai
Ye jag ki reet puraani hai
Hai karm-yog hi yog badaa
Yahi sachchaayi yahi geeta hai
Milta hai jahaan ka pyaar usey
Auron ke jo aansoo peeta hai
Kya maar sakegi maut usey
auron ke liye jo jeeta hai
Milta hai jahaan ka pyaar usey
auron ke jo aansoo peeta hai
Kya maar sakegi maut usey

Hona hota hai jinko amar
Wo log to martey hi aaye
Hona hota hai jinko amar
Wo log to martey hi aaye
Auron ke liye jeewan apna
Balidaan wo karte hi aaye
Dharti ko diye jisne baadal
wo saagar kabhi na reeta hai
Milta hai jahaan ka pyaar usey
auron ke jo aansoo peeta hai
Kya maar sakegi maut usey

Jisne vish piya banaa Shankar
Jisne vish piya bani Meera
Jisne vish piya banaa Shankar
Jisne vish piya bani Meera
Jo chhedaa gaya bana moti
Jo kaata gaya bana heera
Wo nar hai to hai Raam
Wo naari hai to Seeta hai
Milta hai jahaan ka pyaar usey
auron ke jo aansoo peeta hai
Kya maar sakegi maut usey
auron ke liye jo jeeta hai
Milta hai jahaan ka pyaar usey
auron ke jo aansoo peeta hai
Kya maar sakegi maut usey

Hona hota hai jinko amar
Wo log to martey hi aaye ae
Hona hota hai jinko amar
Wo log to martey hi aaye
Auron ke liye jeewan apna
Balidaan wo karte hi aaye
Dharti ko diye jisne baadal
Aa aa aa aa aa
Wo saagar kabhi na reeta hai
Aa aa aa aa aa
Milta hai jahaan ka pyaar usey
Aa aa aa aa aa
Auron ke jo aansu peeta hai
Aa aa aa aa aa
Kya maar sakegi maut usey

Aa aa aa aa aa
Aa aa aa aa aa aa aa aa aa
Aa aa aa aa aa aa aa aa aa aa

Jisne vish piya banaa Shankar
Jisne vish piya bani Meera
Jisne vish piya banaa Shankar
Jisne vish piya bani Meera
Jo chhedaa gayaa banaa moti
Jo kaata gaya bana heera
Wo nar hai to hai Ram
Aa aa aa aa aa
Wo naari hai to Seeta hai
Aa aa aa aa aa
Milta hai jahaan ka pyaar usey
Aa aa aa aa aa
Auron ke jo aansu peeta hai
Aa aa aa aa aa
Kya maar sakegi maut usey

It is that time of year.

Another year comes along, another 31st of July comes along – and once again, we remember, and pay tribute, to the one and only Rafisaab on this date.

Today is the 5th remembrance day of Rajesh Khanna – the first and only Superstar of Hindi cinema. Today I present on our blog, another lovely nice – hummable song from the movie ‘Bundalbaaz’, sung by Kishore Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar.

In a calendar year we celebrate special anniversaries of personalities related to HFM in almost all the months. Moreover, we pay our respect and homages on the remembrance day of such personalities too.

We also celebrate birth anniversaries of our team members and their family members and other ‘special days’ in their life, through posts/songs on the blog.

5th June is celebrated as ‘World Environment Day’ all over the world every year. The theme for this year is “Connecting People to Nature“.

I am approaching today’s post in a different manner. Instead of going into the details of the environmental agencies, their history and purpose, the significant environmental issues being faced by humanity on this planet, etc. I am thinking of our Hindi films and their music. The nature is so intimately connected herein. We cannot imagine our Hindi Film Music without ‘connecting with nature’.

Atul ji’s 10K Song Milestone Celebrations – 11
———————————————————————-

#Claimer 🙂 #
“All the thoughts expressed in this write-up are based on real life experience and day to day happenings, feelings, and emotions triggered by such incidences related with the blog and because of the love, admiration and respect for this blog”
Any ‘resemblance’ of the thoughts mentioned in the write-up is very much expected (and is not a mere ‘coincidence’) with ‘everyman’/ ‘everywoman’s thoughts who is ‘Hindi movie buff’ and lover of HFM for which the author should not be held responsible or criticized or punished in ‘any’ form 🙂
Also, as this is the ‘man ki baat’ of the author the ‘word limit’ does not matter 🙂

This is another one of my long pending posts which I longed to share since couple of years now. I had kept this song reserved for a ‘special occasion’. However as the write-up could not be completed in time, I missed some ‘special occasions’ and so this still remained to be shared.

But then, what could be a better timing and a ‘greater occasion’ than it is to celebrate our Atul ji’s ‘10,000th post’.  So, here we go with this post today heartily Congratulating Atul ji on his 10,000 or 10K posts on the blog!!!
