Blog Day :

5822 Post No. : 18360

Three posts in three days! That’s the upside of being restricted to bed. Yes, you have heard it right – I have been restricted to being on bed or a recliner following a major reconstructive orthopaedic surgery to both my feet last week.

So, the current routine is to get up in the morning, and after having a cup of tea, sit down on the recliner with both my feet up in the air, and write a post on some of the rare hindi film songs which have made a place in my heart. These rare songs give me the maximum pleasure and help in alleviating my neuropathic pain to some extent.

As I have mentioned in some of my earlier posts, bunking school and seeing movies was a part of my growing up years (I am definitely not advocating that today’s youngsters follow this), and amongst them 1973 holds a very special place for me. I used to see almost 2-3 movies per full week. Amongst them, I remember having seen this movie “Hifazat” which had some nice music by Pancham.

The credits, cast and the movie story have been discussed by my fellow contributor Avinash Ji Scrapwala in his earlier post here.

This song “Aiyya Hubee” has been penned by Majrooh Sultanpuri, composed by R D Burman and sung by Asha Bhosle. The song is lip synced and danced upon by the South Indian Bomb-Shell of those times – Jyothi Laxmi.

A brief biography of Jyothi Lakshmi, as per Wikipedia:

Jyothi Lakshmi (2 November 1948 – 9 August 2016) was an Indian actress who appeared in more than 130 movies. In the early 1970s, she was well noted for her leading roles and item songs in movies. She also acted in female-oriented movies and was a trained dancer. She predominantly worked in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam movies. In the early 1980s, her popularity gradually declined due to her sister Jayamalini’s entry into the movie industry. Her debut was in the film Vanambadi in 1963 as a dancer in the song ‘Yaaradi Vanthaar’.

Her daughter Jyothi Meena is also an actress. She died in Chennai on 8 August 2016 due to blood cancer

We can see the movie’s lead pair Vinod Mehra and Asha Sachdev, on screen during the song. I hope you will enjoy this song, as much as I have enjoyed bringing it to your attention.
