Maine dekha usne dekha pyaar ho gaya

Posted on: May 30, 2012

“Aaya Saawan Jhoom Ke” (1969) was produced by J Omprakash and directed by Raghunath Jhalani. The movie had Dharmendra, Asha Parekh, Bindu, Aruna Irani, Sunder, Ravindra Kapoor, Jalal Agha, Nazir Hussain, Rajendranath, Nirupa Roy, Laxmi Chhaya, Shivraj, Naaz, Dulari etc in it.

The movie had seven songs in it and almost all songs from this movie went on to become timeless classics. As many as five of these songs have already been discussed.

Here is the sixth song from this movie. This stage song cum cabarat song is sung by Asha Bhonsle and it is picturised on Laxmi Chhaaya. The picturisation shows Laxmi Chaaya dancing in a club where partons are seated in their chairs. Dharmendra is also seen in the picturisation, not seated but standing and watching her performance with a frown in his face. I wonder what he is frowning at. Could it be the thought that Laxmi Chaaya could steal a march over him and Asha Parekh in their forthcoming movie, viz “Mera Gaaon Mera Desh” (1971). 🙂

Anand Bakshi is the lyricist. Music is composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal.

ho gaya
bas
usne dekha maine dekha
pyaar ho gaya

kaise shuru huyi
dil ki kahaani suno
kaise shuru huyi
dil ki kahaani suno
main sharma rahi thhi
kahin jaa rahi thhi
kiya ik ishaara
kisi ne pukaara
ae jee

bas
usne dekha maine dekha
pyaar ho gaya
pyaar ho gaya
ho gaya

do din na main mili
uska mujhe khat mila
do din na main mili
uska mujhe khat mila
likha thha sitamgar
na aayi tu jaakar
khata ho gayi kyaa
khafa ho gayi kyaa
o ho

dekho to kamaal hain
bas
usne dekha maine dekha

pehli mulaaqaat mein

If my memory serves me right,
In the movie Bindu(wife or fiancee of Ravinder Kapoor)plays a homely, docile character of Dharmendra`s sister or a member of Dharmendra`s family. Ravinder kapoor goes wayward with club dancer Laxmi Chhaya.Dhamendra comes to club to teach a lesson to Ravinder Kapoor and his seductress Laxmi Chhaya. I think there again Laxmi chhaya begins her dance to seduce dharam ji also. Correct me If I am wrong.

Prakashchandra ji, you’re absolutely right. Did you know that J OmPrakash always named his movies beginning with the letter ‘A’?
Sadly, I read somewhere that Laxmi Chhaaya passed away some years ago! She had been suffering from cancer. Who can ever forget her role of ‘Munnibai’ in ‘Mera Gaon Mera Desh’?! She overshadowd Asha Parekh in this movie!

Yes, you are right, Prakashji.

I remember the movie for another reason. My favourite Dharmendra lip syncs to as many as 5 songs in this movie. Otherwise I am used to seeing him sing only 2-3 songs in films.

I think the movie went on to become a silver jubilee hit repeating the success of the same team of “Aye Din Bahar Ke” (1966) – Dharmendra, Asha Parekh, Lakshmikant Pyarelal, Anand Bakshi and Raghunath Jhalani.
