Dekh sakte nahin tumko ji bhar ke ham

Posted on: June 1, 2009

This song is as rare as a hen’s teeth, I suppose. And it is rare is many ways than one.

Though this song is from 1970, I had never ever heard this song till yesterday. This song is sung by Mukesh. It is a party cum piano song. Guess who is the actor on which this song is picturised ? It is Dara Singh ! One lady asks Premnath to sing a song, and Premnath points her to Dara Singh. Dara Singh’s protests that he could not sing falls on deaf years and the lady, standing a foot shorter than Dara Singh drags him towards the customary piano.

Dara Singh seated on a piano and singing about the “zaalim zamaana” in Mukesh’s voice is so cute and interesting. I just loved watching this picturisation. The aforesaid lady, bedecked heavily is heavy sari and jewelllery, performs a dance accompanying this song. any idea who she is ?

This movie is called “Ilzaam” (1970). Indeewar is the lyricist and Usha Khanna composed the music.

Song-Dekh sakte nahin tumko ji bhar ke ham (Ilzaam) (1970) Singer-Mukesh, Lyrics-Indeewar, MD-Usha Khanna

Lyrics

dekh sakte nahin tumko ji bhar ke ham
dil mein kiske gumaan kyaa guzar jaayegaa
tumko apnaa kahen to kahen kis tarah
saari mahfil kaa chehraa utar jaayegaa
dekh sakte nahin tumko ji bhar ke ham

tum bhi betaab ho ham bhi bechain hain
dil me milne ki hasrat machalne lagin
sabr kaa ab to daaman sulagne lagaa
pyaar ki aag seene mein jalne lagi
pyaar ki aag seene mein jalne lagi
tumse milne na paaye agar aaj ham
aisaa lagtaa hai dil hi thahar jaayegaa
dekh sakte nahin tumko ji bhar ke ham

ho kisi desh mein yaa kisi bhesh mein
shakl apnon ki pahchaan letaa hai dil
tum kaho na kaho ham kahen naa kahen
baat dil ki to khud jaan letaa hai dil
baat dil ki to khud jaan letaa hai dil
saamne bas yoon hi muskuraate raho
zindagi kaa muqaddar sanwar jaayegaa
dekh sakte nahin tumko ji bhar ke ham

jaan kar ki gayi ho ke anjaane me
duniyaawaale khataa maaf karte nahin
duniyaa waalon ka ye zulm to dekhiye
deke bhi jo sazaa maaf karte nahin
deke bhi jo sazaa maaf karte nahin
zindagi ban gayi qaid insaan ki
koi ilzaam le kar kidhar jaayegaa
dekh sakte nahin tumko ji bhar ke ham
dil mein kiske gumaan kyaa guzar jaayegaa
tumko apnaa kahen to kahen kis tarah
saari mahfil kaa chehraa utar jaayegaa
dekh sakte nahin tumko ji bhar ke ham

Prakashchandra ji,

Your identification expertise earnestly required for this great song.
Atul ji has identified the actor and I second his identification. 🙂
Please help.

in Carvan(with aruna irani as a dancer in song “dilbhar dil ke pyaare”)
in Yaadon ki baraat as a maid servant who looks after the 3 sepearated brothers in their childhood
In Anokhi ada(1973) starred opposite vinod khanna as his girlfriend

There is one more video clip of this very song on YouTube:

My query, are both the identical songs are from the same movie? Then who is this actor? The Dara Singh version is this:

I would appreciate is someone cleared my confusion. Thanks.

Jawahar Surti ji,

Such videos are uploaded by people with themselves on the “screen” and original singer’s voice playing in the background. If you type the name of the song on youtube, you will get few more.

My advice is to continue enjoying the originals.

Thanks for highlighting the issue as I wasted a lot of time running through couple of full film videos on the net and found nothing. Lesson learnt.
