“Rekha” (1943) was directed by Mahendra Thakur for Ramnik Productions, Bombay. The movie had Leela Chitnis, Harish, Maya Banerjee, Sankata Prasad, Moni Chatterjee, Padma Banerjee, Ram Krishn etc in it.

There are nine songs in this obscure movie. Singers are not known for any of the songs. One record number (N26380) is mentioned for songs number 4 and 9. It means that this record contained the the songs on its opposite sides.

Apparaently these are the only songs that are available. Record numbers are not known for other songs, so it could mean that the records were not made for other songs and so they may have figured only in the movie.

Song number 4 of “Rekha” (1943) has been covered in the blog eight years ago.

Here is song number nine of “Rekha” (1943). It is sung by an unknown female voice. The voice appears familiar but I cannot put a name to it. It seems like a child voice and sounds similar to the voice of young Madhubala in songs of those years. I request our knowledgeable readers to help identify the voice.

J C Solanki is the lyricist. Music is composed by Damodar Sharma.

Song-Aaye na aaye raham hum pe tumko (Rekha)(1943) Singer-Unknown female voice, Lyrics-J C Solanki, MD-Damodar Sharma

Lyrics

aaye na aaye
raham ham pe tumko
hum to duaayen diye jaayenge
hum to duaayen diye jaayenge

taambe ka tukda na hum maangte hain
taambe ka tukda na hum maangte hain
chaandi ka rupya na hum maangte hain
chaandi ka rupya na hum maangte hain
gareebon ko
gareebon ko
gareebon ko haq bhi nahin maangne ka aa

jo kuchh bhi doge liye jaayenge
aaye na aaye
raham ham pe tumko
hum to duaayen diye jaayenge

mar mar ke jeete hain
jee jee ke marte
mar mar ke jeete hain
jee jee ke marte
arre maut se bhee kabhee hum na darte
arre maut se bhee kabhee hum na darte
amrit ke dhokhe zahar bhi pi aaun
amrit ke dhokhe zahar bhi pi aaun
hans hans ke hum to piye jaayenge
aaye na aaye
raham ham pe tumko
hum to duaayen diye jaayenge

jisne hamaaree ye haalat banaayee
jisne hamaaree ye haalat banaayee
jisne hamaaree duniya mitaayee
jisne hamaaree duniya mitaayee
uska bhala ho
bhala ho
bhala ho
yahi kahte kahte jiye jaayenge
aaye na aaye
raham ham pe tumko
hum to duaayen diye jaayenge
