Chala jaata hoon kisi ki dhun mein

“Mere Jeewan Saathi” was a Rajesh Khanna movie during his heyday. And like most movies, the movie was full of great songs.
Here is one of these songs, which is arguably the most popular song from this movie, though perceptions may vary from person to person.
It is a “car” song, where Rajesh Khanna is seen driving as well as singing. Now,listening to music while driving was technologically not possible those days, so Bollywood heroes would sing while drive. Rajesh Khanna himself was seen doing that in “Aradhana” and now in “Mere Jeewan Saathi”. Considering what happens at the end of the song, perhaps Bollywood needed a traffic rule stating that “singing while driving was injurious to driver’s health” .
But as we all know, following safety regulations has never been the strong suit of Bollywood movies, so here is this Bollywood car song “Chala jaata hoon kisi ki dhun me”. It is sung by Kishore Kumar.Majrooh Sultanpuri is the lyricist whereas R D Burman is the music director.

This used to be my favourite song at one point in time.
At various times I have had “favourite songs” – the phase could last a month, it could last 6 months, it could last longer.
Then a new song would take over.
I distinctly remember this song having its phase.
Btw, there is at least one song which is played on the radio – and the hero/heroine who are in a car listen to the song.
I am not going to mention the song right now – I am putting it in the trivia section of membsaab’s blog. 🙂
