Today we get introduced to yet another obscure movie from the decades of seventies. The title of this movie is ‘Baghaaawat-1971’.

I had earlier introduced a movie with the same title from the year 1951 in this post. In this post that appeared on the blog in June-2023, I had mentioned that movies with this title ‘Baghaawat’ were made in 1951, 1960s or 1964, 1971 and 1982. The movie made in the sixties or from the year 1964 was introduced in the blog during March 2023. This movie of 1964 is an Un-released/shelved movie made in the decade of sixties. ‘Baghaawat-1982’ was introduced in the blog as far back as in 2013 itself.

Today’s song is from a very obscure film Aakhri Paigham aka The Last message-1949. Earlier to the release of the film, the film’s title was ‘Message of Mahatma Gandhi’, which was changed on government’s warning.

Produced by Filmland Ltd., Bombay, the film was directed by Muzammil, who also did the leading actor’s role in this film. The Music Directors were Abid Hussain Khan and Sushant Banerjee. For the film’s 12 songs, 6 Lyricists and 9 singers were used. The lyricists were Josh Malihabadi, Sharin Bhopali,Mahmood Sarosh, Behzad lucknowi, Ehsan Rizvi and J.K.Chugtai. The singers were Shamshad, Vinod, Uma Devi, Sailesh, Sudha Malhotra, Abid Hussain, Sushant Banerjee, Zohra Jaan and Rafi.

The cast included Leela Chitnis, Muzammil, Shashikala, Jillobai, Niranjan Sharma and others. The film was a typical propaganda film for Gandhi.

The song under discussion is from the movie ‘Bhishm Pratigya’ or ‘Bheeshm Pratigya’. This movie Bheeshm Pratigya-1950’ made its debut on the blog on 13.01.2014 with its song ‘pagle manwaa ab rotaa hai kyun’ sung by Geeta Roy/Dutt. The cast included Dara Singh, G Ratna, Master Bhagwan, Anwar Hussain, Padma Khanna, Kanchanmala, Helen, S Nazir, Rajrani, Saudagar Singh, Trilok Singh, Suryavir Singh, Hardeet Singh etc. The film belongs to the genre of the science fiction coupled with stunts and actions. This was the only Hindi film of the lead actress, G Ratna (also written as G Rathna) who has acted in Telugu, Tamil and Kannada films during 1960-80. Master Bhagwan had a double role in the film – both as sidekicks of the lead actor, Dara Singh and the villain, Anwar Hussain.
